On tonight’s Chicago Med episode, Dr. Ripley was babysitting his godson. Nate usually stays at daycare. Only they had a gas leak. Lynne the mother was also halfway across the state and so Ripley was called.

He was the Emergency contact. He was the godfather. He was a doctor as well. He should have been fine and he wasn’t. Nate was a fussy baby.

He could only sleep if he was being held. He was due for a nap that he was fighting. Ripley just couldn’t handle him. He was also working that day. His patient list was getting longer. And so he tried to pass the baby onto someone else.

He first tried Dr. Frost. Frost was the pediatrician. He just wasn’t a magician. He had no idea how to put Nate to sleep and he had his own patients to deal with.

There was a young boy that needed new lungs. He was on the donor list. He was trying to do everything right, but his body was going into respiratory failure.

He needed new lungs now because they couldn’t use other resources. Noah’s parents refused to put him on the ventilator. They knew their son. They said he becomes weaker each time he gets put on intubated.

It was like he was giving up each time the machine breathes for him. Noah doesn’t want it. His parents didn’t want it. Frost was forced to try and find another way to prolong Noah’s life until he could get his surgery.

He didn’t have time to babysit baby Nate. Nate ended up getting passed off to a nurse. Ripley began seeing patients. The same for Dr. Archer.

Archer’s first patient of the day happened to be Dr. Lenox’s brother. Kip Lenox. He didn’t bother trying to hide the fact he was looking for drugs. He came in because he’s been struggling with his balance lately.

Kip has taken one too many falls. He’s ignored it because he feared what it could mean. Kip and his sister lost their mother at a fairly young age. She has a condition that was ultimately fatal.

After she died, their father gave up on life to join her. They were left orphaned. Lenox looked out for her brother ever since. They even made an agreement. They weren’t going to get tested to see if they inherited the same condition that killed their mother. They didn’t want to live their lives knowing that it had an expiration date.

It also convinced Lenox that she didn’t want a family of her own. She didn’t want to date. She didn’t want kids. She tried to be by herself and then along came Dr. Hayes.

They developed a flirtation. It made Lenox feel alive again because shutting out the world wasn’t living. She was ready to take things to the next level when she found out the truth about Hayes. He loves crossing the line with all women. It wasn’t just Lenox. He used the same move on her that he did on his resident. Naomi confided in Lenox.

Naomi thought she was protecting Lenox by telling her. The one thing she asked for in return was that this didn’t get reported. She didn’t want to get caught up in a she said/he said.

She didn’t want to potentially lose her career or get blackballed in her field for making an accusation. Naomi knows that Hayes brings a lot of money to the hospital. The board was never going to side with her over him. It doesn’t matter what he did. They were going to protect him and he’d only get bolder. And so Lenox betrayed Naomi when she went to Sharon behind her back.

Sharon agreed to go ahead with the complaint. She got in touch with the board. They were supposed to carry out an investigation and that never happened because Naomi was right.

She was right about everything. The board didn’t want to take away Hayes’s privileges. He essentially got a slap on the wrist. Sharon still wanted to pursue things. Only Naomi refused to continue this. She felt humiliated enough. She was afraid she was never going to be known as a great doctor. Just as the doctor that accused Hayes.

There was a nurse that later reached out to her. Hayes sexually harassed the nurse as well. She hadn’t been brave enough to come forward and so she thanked Naomi. Naomi did what she was too afraid to do. She also reminded Naomi that because the accusation went public – Hayes was going to be watched much closer than he ever did before.

Naomi saved a lot of women from him. He won’t be bothering anyone else ever again. This conversation gave Naomi a new perspective. She realized that coming forward was going to help others if it couldn’t help her.

It helped that Lenox was busy with her brother. She got informed about him being in the ED. She was worried his balance issues were symptoms of a serious condition.

She asked him to get tested and he refused to do so. He was sticking to their earlier agreement. He didn’t want to know if he was going to die. He was about to check himself out of the hospital when he couldn’t feel or move his legs. His sister had to help him back into a hospital bed. She hooked him up to an IV. Some feelings returned to his legs. And he still needed to be convinced to get tested.

Lenox couldn’t talk to him. He wouldn’t accept anything she had to say. She needed to unload and that’s when she spotted Hayes. Hayes bragged about what he did to her.

They were alone in the elevator. He felt secure in that to mention that he could have any woman he wants. He was so horrible that someone eventually leaked the story to a newspaper. They mentioned all the accusations against Hayes. It wasn’t just Naomi and the nurse. It was a whole group of women that came forward. They all felt braver now that Naomi had taken the first step.

The board was forced to take action. Hayes was done in Chicago. Sharon found out about it afterwards. She was attending Dr. Charles’s mother’s funeral when everything went down.

Margaret Charles had a complicated relationship with her son. She refused to attend his first wedding because the bride was black, but losing out on her son as well as playing a part in her granddaughters’ lives helped her come around. She began calling her grandchildren every couple of months to check in with them. And to make sure that they were happy and healthy.

She apologized for he earlier actions.

The doctor never knew about the calls. He pretended like his mother was dead. Even after he ran into her at the hospital, they got into a huge fight. His mother died before they could ever make up.

Or tell each other that they love the other and he did love his mom. He regrets that his last words to her was so hurtful. He cut her out of his life for thirty years and he never got to meet the woman his mother became. He also came around to her fiancé, Frederick. Frederick was alright. He showed up to the funeral and hugged all the well- wishers.

Charles also learned that his youngest daughter dropped out of college. She’s been in Chicago for a month. Her older sister pretended that they just got in. Anna wasn’t ready to talk.

Charles only found out about it because he saw Anna’s luggage. It said she flew in four weeks ago. He then confronted her and she admitted she dropped out of Stanford. Frost meanwhile kept Noah alive long enough to get a transplant. Just for it to get stolen by a richer patient. Alea Lancer wasn’t the problem. Her father the billionaire was the problem.

Her dad rigged the system. He stole the lungs from Noah. Noah will surely die now. Alea will get those lungs and its all because the father was richer. It also turns out that it was Naomi that leaked the story.

She did it because she was leaving the hospital anyways. She wanted a fresh start and hopefully gets it. Lenox figured out it was her. She wished Naomi good luck. And they made up.

Dr. Asher also learned she couldn’t be her sister’s surrogate. She was pregnant. It was probably Mitch’s and her decision to be a mother was made fairly recent. She wasn’t sure if she could do it. Nor how to tell her sister that just lost her uterus that she got pregnant before her.

THE END!
