General Hospital (GH) recap for Friday, May 16, reveals that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was ready to make a sneaky Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) deal while Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) overheard a marriage crisis.
At Aurora, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) played dumb when Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) offered updates on his belief that Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) was being blackmailed by Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison).
Nina also fumed over Drew’s scandal and how it could cost Willow her kids now that the custody drama was about to erupt.
Curtis advised Nina to find someone who could influence Michael’s opinion, so she knew who to visit.
By the Quartermaine boathouse, Drew showed up after a trip on his new boat and met with Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot).
After some bickering about Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Ezra Boyle (Daniel Cosgrove), Drew wanted to add some benefits to his deal with Tracy.
If Drew pulled off his part in helping to get rid of Sonny, he wanted access to the Quartermaine property in addition to the use of the Quartermaine name like they’d already agreed.
Tracy refused to renegotiate the terms since it was Monica Quartermaine’s (Leslie Charleson) house anyway.
Later, Curtis summoned Drew to his office and confronted him about blackmailing Portia.
At GH, Ava Jerome (Maura West) fished to find out if Portia was behind Drew’s call girl scandal, but Portia dodged questions and ranted about the pressure she was under.
Ava ultimately urged Portia to change tactics and come clean to Curtis, but Portia feared she’d be out of chances after telling multiple lies.
Meanwhile, Willow crossed paths with Isaiah and opened up to him about the imminent custody hearing.
Isaiah was surprised to hear Willow might go for sole custody and eventually pushed her to trust her good heart.
Later, Isaiah stood outside Portia’s office and overheard her talking to Ava about her marriage being over if Curtis found out she was lying again.
At Carly’s place, she gave Sonny news on the upcoming court date that she was handling instead of Michael.
Sonny insisted this was a mistake, but Carly felt the judge would award her custody of the kids – especially after seeing Drew’s body shots video and the video of him on the nursery floor with Willow.
Carly felt confident she’d get custody of the children until Michael could come home to claim them.
Sonny warned that if Michael lost Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) and Amelia Corinthos (Sequoia and Serenity Mork Macko) because of Carly, then she could lose Michael, too.
Afterward, Sonny tracked Willow down and acknowledged that they both wanted to avoid things getting ugly in court.
That’s why Sonny was hopeful about reaching a compromise and achieving peace for the kids’ sake.
Back at Carly’s house, Nina showed up and pushed Carly to make time for her before Drew completely wrecked their grandkids’ lives.
At the café, Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) and Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) showed up right as Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) and Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) were talking about Gio.
Cody and Lulu covered by acting like they were discussing what happened with Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr), so Gio remained apologetic.
Brook Lynn defended Gio and pointed out that because he took Rocco to the boathouse, Cody was able to realize something was wrong and get Rocco help.
Brook Lynn eventually gushed over Gio’s talent and looked forward to his Nurses Ball performance as well.
Lulu viewed this as a mother-son coffee date and privately told Cody that she rested her case!
Cody wasn’t as convinced that Brook Lynn knew her son was Gio or that Gio was even her son with Dante at all, so Lulu agreed they needed proof.
After Lulu showed Cody some of the records she’d been digging into, she realized they needed to find out where Gio’s mom, Camilla, was and what she was doing when Brook Lynn had her baby.
At the Quartermaine mansion, Rocco apologized for the terrible position he put Gio in.
Gio insisted it was all good and didn’t want this to affect Rocco’s relationship with Dante.
Once Rocco left, Brook Lynn assured Gio that Dante would come around, but Gio knew Dante didn’t like him.
After Gio got agitated, he ultimately sulked off to study.
Next, Brook Lynn filled Tracy in on the latest Gio drama and mentioned that it was her son’s birthday today.
Tracy let Brook Lynn know that she got Lulu to back off the adoption story, so no one would ever know BLQ gave a baby up unless she wanted them to.
General Hospital spoilers say Tracy will be proven wrong soon enough, so stay tuned for all the Nurses Ball mayhem that’s brewing.
