In tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy episode, losing Dr. Monica Beltran hit everyone hard. No one more so than Amelia. Amelia was hoping to start something with Monica. They started off arguing and they became friends. They could’ve been something more if they had time. It what could’ve been that’s going to haunt Amelia.

She took time off. She was staying in bed depressed. Her sisters were worried and so they stepped in. Meredith called Maggie. They both checked on Amelia. They did their best to be there for her as she fell apart. And with Amelia, there was always the possibility of her relapsing during a tragedy.

Amelia’s addiction began after she witnessed her father’s murder. She got clean after a lot of years, but she always close to relapse when she loses someone. She lost her fiancé and her son.

This loss was going to feel familiar. Amelia was going to want to just give into it. Her sisters were there to remind her to get out of bed. She still has a living son whose been staying with his grandparents because he no one wanted to frighten him with seeing his father in the hospital. Link was doing better by the way.

Amelia needed to think of the lives saved. Not the ones that were lost. They were getting Amelia out of bed at the same time that Link was struggling with his rehab. He wanted to push through the pain. Owen was his doctor and he didn’t have a problem with it. He said that Link as a doctor would know what was best for him.

Only Link had something to prove. His new wife was pregnant with twins. They had two toddlers at home. He wanted to be able to help. He wanted to return to work. He wanted to hold the twins when they were born. He couldn’t do that from a bed.

Link was pushing himself so hard that he pulled out his IV by accident. His wife was furious with Owen because of it. Owen should have told him not to push through the pain. He also should have known that Link would lie about his pain levels.

Owen ignored all the warning signs because he was too busy trying to avoid his wife. Technically, Link was both of theirs patient. Owen didn’t want to check on Link if Teddy was in the room. He also demanded to check on him when Teddy wasn’t there.

The two of them were struggling. They’ve always struggled. They’ve been best friends for over twenty years and they didn’t know how to be married to each other. They opened their marriage. Owen used that to sleep with Nora. Teddy realized she didn’t want to use it to sleep with anyone else. It was a letdown when they both learned what the other was or was not capable of. They’ve since given themselves space. Owen was staying at the hospital. Teddy was staying at the house with the kids.

They needed to make a decision. Do they fight to save the marriage or give up? It hard to tell. Jo and Link haven’t been married that long and they were fighting too. Link hated being weak. It reminded him of when he was sick as a kid. He hated it. He hated that Jo had to see it.

He especially hated that she kept trying to help. He shouted her after he fell and she tried to help him back on his feet. Link shouldn’t even be moving around. He fell because he was not supposed to get up. Owen should be checking on him knowing he’s proven to be a difficult patient.

Jo would have said something if she hadn’t gotten upset with Link yelling at her. He fell because he wanted to charge his phone. His mother was with Scout at the park and he used that as an excuse. Link’s temper wasn’t the only one out of control. Lucas has been making snide remarks all day. He was angry that he and Simone were barely broken up when she slept with someone else. He’s been avoiding her. Which didn’t work out when they both responded to one of the construction workers getting pin by a truck.

Lucas said one too many remarks. This including during the surgery that Ben asked him to leave. He had no choice. His temper was risking the patient, but do you know who got to stay? The guy that Simone slept with. The new guy broke Blue’s rules by treating patients and Bailey rewarded him for it. She also named Ben as the new Chief Resident. He was in the best position to help her with the interns. Lucas was still in a foul mood when Jules messaged her friends 911. She thought she was fine after losing Monica when she wasn’t.

Jules froze during surgery with Winston. He luckily gave her a breather to get back on her feet. Afterwards, Jules held a memorial ceremony for Monica because she missed the actual one. Her friends attended and this included Lucas who didn’t know Monica well. Amelia also finally grieved Monica.

It helped that Maggie was pregnant. It took her mind off her troubles. Maggie used a sperm donor to have a baby. She didn’t tell her sisters because she didn’t want them to talk her out of it. Maggie was happy. And Amelia finally let it all out what she was bottling.

Jo forgave Link. Owen and Teddy were still estranged, but Owen moved back into the airstream. It was his divorce home at this point.

THE END!
