In tonight’s Watson season 2 episode 10 called “”Never Been CRISPR’d,” as per the CBS synopsis, “Watson’s biohacker friend Hobie (aka the man with the glowing chest) returns when he rushes his new girlfriend to the Holmes Clinic after they partake in a gene-editing experiment that goes wrong. Meanwhile, Watson becomes suspicious of Sherloc.”

In tonight’s Watson episode, Watson was beginning to doubt the people closest to him. Sherlock has never been truthful to him. Neither has Shinwell. He also has to deal with Hobie McSorely. Hobie was a gene hacker. He did several body mods on himself and that included making his chest glow. Why? Its because he can.
The law hasn’t caught up with the body mods that he does. He was therefore to keep doing them with no government oversight. It worked well on him and not so much on his new girlfriend named Wendy.
Hobie recently got divorced. He was a bit awkward. He thought he found his dream girl in Wendy. Wendy was into body mods as well. She had magnets put under the skin of her hand so that she could attract other metals with it. Wendy and Hobie met for the first time tonight. They went straight to the hotel.
They told exchanged “I love you”. They were moving rather quickly before Hobie got to the good stuff of injecting her with the CRISPR Mod that he created. It wasn’t just his chest that glows. He could make other parts glow and Wendy wanted the same.
Only Wendy had a bad reaction to whatever Hobie cooked up. She had a first dose. Hobie mailed it to her and what she got at the hotel was supposed to be a topper. The topper might kill her. She passed out. She had to be taken to the hospital. Wendy was in a coma. Watson became her doctor as a favor to Hobie.
He was trying to figure out what caused her coma-like state. It could have been any of the body mods she did. The magnetic fingers were cleared, but she also got something tied to her chest to send her body temperature to a thermostat.
There was also the problem of her relationship with Hobie. It moved way too fast. Watson thought so and he said to Hobie that it couldn’t be love because they just met for the first time.
Hobie replied that he couldn’t tell him who to love. He wasn’t that good of a doctor. Hobie seemed to genuinely love Wendy. It was reciprocated because she woke up still in love with him too. She also felt bad because she was peeing blood. It turns out her kidneys were failing her. She might need dialysis. And she might lose her voice.
Wendy wanted it to be on record that she consented to being injected. She knew what she was doing. She took the risks and Hobie shouldn’t get in trouble for it. She said all of this Watson in case she’s intubated because she wanted him to tell authorities if they come knocking. Wendy seemed like a good person.
She didn’t have anyone else in her life. She has a friend babysitting her cats. Hobie called her friend for her. Wendy was also vegan. She was eating fake chicken and she might have had food poisoning the morning of her date.
None of it solved what was really going on with her. Ingrid gave Watson the idea of testing her genomes. It showed that her x chromosomes were completely destroyed.
That night at the hotel wasn’t the first time she tried CRISPR. It didn’t work last time and she didn’t think it would be a problem getting something a little different only still a mod. It also wasn’t the mod’s fault that she was deteriorating. It was because of the chicken with two k’s. Wendy was vegan. She ate something fake chicken created out of fava beans.
Wendy has G6PD. She needed to be medication. She also had to stay away from fava beans in the future. They’ve been giving her antibiotics and its only made her sicker seeing as it’s the wrong medication. Well, they stopped that. They gave her what she needed. She was doing better until she kissed Hobie.
She’s become allergic to additional mods. She became allergic to Hobie himself. Hobie couldn’t be around her and the doctors refused to reverse his mods out of fear of it killing him. And so he did it himself.
Hobie got rid of his glowing chest. He reversed his mods so that he could be with Wendy again. They were happy and in love. Hobie even gave Watson some dating advice as he continues to come in for checkups.
He told his friend to tell the woman he loves her now rather than wait around. He thought Watson would go to Laila and he went to Mary. He found Mary kissing someone else. She’s moved again. Just like she did the last time and Watson was once again too late to recapture what he had, but its okay because he has bigger problems.
He ran into Holmes again. Holmes had been sleeping in the empty wing of the hospital. He suffers memory loss and Watson feared he was having seizures. He tried to get him tested only Holmes fled before he could be treated. Now, Watson was looking for him. He informed Shinwell that Holmes was still alive. He was getting to find Holmes before he hurts himself or gets any sicker. And so his love life can wait.
Ingrid’s couldn’t. She finally broke up with Beck. It was all good because he had an obsession. He was obsessed with Sasha after just meeting her the once and now he was pretending to be her biological mother to get details on her life.
It was being done over email. He even said Uncle Jun got things started because he worked for the Chinese government. Her fake uncle who was now dead. Did Beck kill him as a means of getting closer to Sasha?
