In tonight’s 9-1-1 episode, plenty of people move to LA. They was Morty whose daughter was going through a divorce. He wanted to be there as a support for her.

There was those who moved there to pursue acting. They couldn’t wait to win their first Oscar. There were also some who wanted to move there for a job opportunity and one such family was considering it as they vacationed there.

There was a traffic accident while they were on the tour bus. It led to a sinkhole opening up right under them. The guy driving to work was safe because his car was driving itself. It got him out of the accident and he came to love technology.

The family as well as good old Morty were the ones in trouble. Morty’s pacemaker was malfunctioning. He needed to be rescued from the sinkhole before they technically stopped his heart.

They eventually got him out. Thanks to Harry who realized his weight was causing an issue with the rope. He dropped down back into the sinkhole. He spotted woman trapped in her car under the water. He alerted Eddie. Eddie then ended up saving the young actress who may have started the whole traffic jam.

No one died. The city also became alerted to a sinkhole so she helped people. She also helped the family because the dad revealed he lost his job six months ago. He thought he was going to die and he didn’t want his teenage daughter to be upset with him about wanting to move to LA. He got first job offer from his brother.

It was the best way forward for the family. The daughter came to that too. She helped cover for her dad after their rescue. She convinced her brother and mom that LA was full of adventures. And back home was just too boring now.

Still, there was something sinister about that sinkhole. It would take the city forever to fill it back up. Maddie later had to attend her first postmortem. The other departments were swearing they saw no sign of that sinkhole.

Even the Fire Department got in trouble for rescuing thirty-six people because that could potentially be thirty-six lawsuits. The only one who saw warning signs was the Dispatch office. Maddie’s office. Sue was still out and that meant Maddie was still in charge of the 911 dispatchers.

Maddie noticed that there was a twenty percent uptick in calls right before the sinkhole appeared. The guy in charge then demanded that she go back eight weeks and look at every call within the vicinity in order to deliver a report in less than a week. The city wanted to protect themselves. It hadn’t just been a sinkhole.

It took down electricity lines. It cut off hundreds if not thousands of people’s water supply as well. Maddie will find her the face of their mistakes if she doesn’t do her job “properly”. In other words, find someone else to blame.

The newly minted detective was also going through a trial by fire. Athena has been a cop for thirty years. She spent most of it riding the street and so now that she was a detective – she wanted to take it easy.

She was afraid of taking a risk. She didn’t want to go for a big case right away and she was talking about that with her daughter when a case fell right into her lap. She was leaving the hospital where May worked when it happened. She witnessed someone ditching a body before driving off. The body was without identification. The only thing the guy had on him was a large engagement ring.

Athena wanted that ring to get to its rightful owner. Especially once the victim passed away. It was later revealed that he had a workplace accident along with his friends and the friends freaked. They were the ones that dropped the body off at the hospital. They at least wanted to get him medical help.

They also confessed within five minutes. Athena closed her first case and something was still off with it. She felt she missed a crucial detail. She kept digging. She found out those men were actually pulling off burglaries when they weren’t working construction. Its how they got injured.

They robbed jewelry stores. They came up from the subterrain level. The same one that Maddie was investigating because there was a sudden call from Director Worrell. The sinkhole was screaming.

There’s been an increase in calls of people that were just plain weird and it turns out they were getting dismissed. Not anymore. The screaming sinkhole, the burglary, and now a disappearing detective. Athena saw that the vault had a hole leading into the ground. She went in down there not knowing what to expect.

What she found was a screaming pit under the hole the robbers created. It trapped her under ground. She thought herself safe because she left her card behind with the jewelry store owner, but he too got knocked out by the blast. It wasn’t the water. It wasn’t a sinkhole. It was a volcano.

One that just exploded. And here Buck thought the worse he had to deal with was spoiling Theo to the point he was getting domestically abused.

THE END!
