In tonight’s Boston Blue episode, someone shot at two cops. Those cops were covering for Sean and Jonah. They had gotten pastries to do a taste test with their friends.

If they hadn’t gone, they would have gotten shot as well. The shooter had apparently walked right up to the cops’ window and shot the both of them. He critically injured one of them. He left behind notes. One of those notes said “1o 2172”. The other said “2 of 2172”.

The numbers were significant because the shooter sent a manifesto to the police department. He called the Boston PD corrupt. He said the blue line had to be destroyed. He also kept repeating the death of 2172. There was currently 2,172 active police officers in the BPD.

This guy was hunting down cops. Technically, it should’ve been Jonah and Sean that caught those bullets. It was their zone. They left it early for a lunch break to get those pastries.

They now blame themselves for what happened to their friends. Sean was taking it the hardest because he stayed by Steve’s side.

He tried to staunch the bleeding. Steve survived long enough to make it to the hospital. He then unfortunately died during surgery. Sean and Jonah were taken off the streets. Danny knew it’d be worst if they kept thinking on their own so he brought them with him and Lena.

They just didn’t count on the guys running amok. Jonah and Sean were there when the detectives watched the bodycam footage. They saw the moment Steve got shot. They also all saw when Rachel froze. She had a shot at the shooter. She didn’t take it because she froze.

She could get blamed for all of this. She might lose her career. Its one of the reasons why Sarah suggested they pass the footage off to IA. They needed her not to be blamed for what happened to Steve. The only reason Rachel didn’t fire back because she heard Steve struggling to breathe. She made him the priority.

Any cop worth their salt would have done the same for their partner. The mistake she made was not reporting what happened exactly as it happened. She doesn’t remember. She doesn’t recall getting out of the car much less checking to see where the gun was.

Or at least that’s what she’s claiming once Jonah showed her the footage. He was trying to knock some memories loose and he should’ve remembered what she first said. Rachel gave a great description of the guy in the moment. She told Jonah where he went. And Jonah pursued him.

Jonah lost him because of a misplaced truck. The first time the guy called in to report a broken car window. It had been a trap and he just wanted to get close enough to the cops to shoot them. He didn’t bring a far more dangerous gun. It was a Glock 23. They found the casing at the first crime scene.

They also found out that his manifesto was essentially kept repeating itself. Sean ran it online. One line has been used quite frequently in a subreddit. They also wanted to blame the moderator as the culprit. The picture of the shooter wasn’t actually the shooter.

The shooter bought an AI perfected facemask to look like the moderator of the subreddit. He wanted to blame his crimes on him and it would’ve worked if the guy didn’t have a solid alibi.

He also had tattoos on his hands. The shooter didn’t have that same tattoo. He was wearing a facemask to throw the guy that kicked him of the subreddit into prison. They found the real man. They asked him if someone would have any grudge against him. He said people were angry. They got too angry with their rhetoric and that’s why they got banned.

He also said he never met this shooter in person. He doesn’t meet anyone from subreddit. That turned out to be a lie. He did visit someone. He visited Costa. Costa said another trap for police.

They were all safe. It was a civilian who took the worst of it. They later found Costa’s manifest to make sense once they got put together. He was a wannabe cop. He failed psych test to go into the profession because he fit to be a cop. So he joined the subreddit. He heard the only good cop was a dead cop. It messed with him.

His father was a cop. He borrowed the old man’s uniform because he tried to shoot the Chief of Police. Sarah was there that day and she saved the Chief’s life. They eventually pushed Costa into a neighborhood where he couldn’t easily escape. And before long it led to an arrest.

Rachel wasn’t going to be losing her job thanks to Jonah and Sarah. Sean realized that the day can sometimes getter better or worse. He had to protect himself from both choices.

And Mae realized there was a snake in her department. He wanted to oust and she wasn’t looking to be ousted. She was District Attorney. She wants stay that way on tonight’s episode.

THE END!
