General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that fans are outraged at Maxie Jones’ (Kirsten Storms) absence as it’s hurting the soap and storylines – a recast is clearly needed STAT!
Still, let’s rewind a bit. Kirsten Storms, who’s played Maxie since 2005, has been dealing with a ton of personal issues for months lately.
As such, she has not been able to return to Los Angeles to the GH set for filming.
The actress made a brief return earlier in 2026 when Maxie woke up from her coma, but hasn’t been seen since March of this year.
Maxie and Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) were away on vacation with their girls, so they weren’t around for the explosive reveal that surrounded Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey).
Cassius had been parading around as his twin brother, Nathan West (Ryan Paevey), for months, and it was finally exposed to everyone in July.
Poor James West (Gary James Fuller) dealt with a major blow when he learned his father was leaving town, only to learn that he had passed away.
During the Thursday, July 16 episode, Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) was tasked with the difficult job of telling James that his dad was not his dad, but rather his uncle, Cassius.
Now James hates Cody, and poor Cody is heartbroken by his beloved nephew’s reaction.
Still, it’s beyond ridiculous that Cody was asked to do something this major.
It really should’ve come from Maxie and Spinelli, if not Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) or Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati).
With that said, GH fans still want to see Maxie’s reaction to learning that “Nathan” wasn’t really Nathan, after all.
They shared a major love story back in the day, and seeing her digest this information may also bring insight into why she quickly chose Spinelli over Nathan.
Something obviously didn’t feel right for Maxie. Did the ABC soap botch up this storyline by not pressing the button on bringing in a Maxie recast?
Understandably, they don’t want to permanently replace Storms, especially considering her unfortunate personal circumstances, but Maxie has had temporary recasts in the past.
Why not bring in one of those actresses from the past to pinch-hit?
After all, Days of Our Lives (DOOL) alum, Jen Lilley (ex-Theresa Donovan), took over for Storms in 2011.
Meanwhile fellow DOOL alum, Molly Burnett (ex-Melanie Jonas), played Maxie here and there from 2016 to 2018.
More recently, Nicole Paggi stepped into the role in 2023, 2024, and 2025 on a temporary basis when needed.
Surely one of these ladies, or someone else, could’ve jumped in and played Maxie during the entire Cassius bombshell to offer the blonde’s perspective on her late husband’s twin running around as Nathan?
General Hospital spoilers suggest that the soap dropped the ball on this, big time, so what does the future hold for Maxie now, and will fans ever learn her thoughts on the Cassius-Nathan switcheroo?
