General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) and Ethan Lovett’s (Nathan Dean) recent scenes are causing quite a stir on social media.
GH fans are divided after the show seemingly pumped the brakes on a romantic relationship for Kristina and Ethan, so let’s talk about this complicated situation.
In the April 20 episode, Kristina reflected on how she had the biggest crush on Ethan when she was younger.
Ethan recalled how Kristina said she was going to marry him someday, which left Kristina embarrassed.
Ethan admitted he thought it was sweet and remembered wishing Kristina was about five years older back then.
That’s when Kristina said something that caught many viewers off guard.
“Well, I am more than five years older now, but unfortunately my type has changed a little bit,” Kristina insisted before some talk about Blaze aka Allison “Allie” Rogers (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) and her admission that she was now “deeply single.”
“Just my luck! You’re all grown up, you’re beautiful, you’re smart, you’re single and totally not interested in me,” Ethan replied.
Kristina clarified that she may not be interested in dating Ethan, but she was definitely interested in being his friend.
The whole exchange sparked a debate on social media about Kristina’s sexuality and whether she really just planted Ethan in the friend zone.
Kristina has obviously been with men in the past, but then sparks flew with her professor, Parker Forsyth (Ashley Jones).
There was also a kiss between Kristina and Valerie Spencer (Brytni Sarpy), but Valerie freaked out in the aftermath.
In 2018, Kristina had a conversation with Daisy Kwan (Kelsey Wang) about identifying “as bi most of the time.”
However, Kristina addressed her sexuality again in 2024 during Perez Hilton’s guest appearance.
After Perez claimed Kristina had “been openly gay for some time,” Kristina confirmed that she indeed had been.
On X (formerly known as Twitter), Kate Mansi suggested that line was misconstrued and posted about Kristina’s bisexuality.
“I’ve held my tongue for a while now but lemme say this – if you’ve actually watched the s/l, Kristina is a BISEXUAL woman,” Mansi said in August 2024.
Of course, the show seems to be going against that again by having Kristina shut down anything romantic with Ethan and claiming her type has changed.
Some fans are standing by their belief that Ethan and Kristina could still get a slow-burn story of friends to lovers.
Other viewers are convinced the show’s sticking with Kristina’s crush on Jacinda Bracken (Paige Herschell), which seems to have been building for a while now.
That Jacinda crush may be one-sided on Kristina’s end at this point, but things could shift down the road.
Nevertheless, plenty of GH watchers are complaining about bi erasure as well as Ethan and Kristina not getting the chance at a proper romance.
Will that change or did the writers really just slam the door on an Ethan and Kristina pairing?
