General Hospital (GH) recap for Wednesday, August 19, reveals that Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) hoped to pop the question to Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst), but that plan was derailed when he found her in a compromising position with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna).
At Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) place, Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Spears) wanted to invite ADA Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) to the family barbeque, but Sonny insisted she was too busy.
Since Donna was making invitations, she secretly made one for Justine anyway.
Ric also stopped by Sonny’s house to seek his input on his marriage proposal plan.
After Ric showed off the engagement ring, Sonny seemed concerned about him moving too fast.
Ric acknowledged that he didn’t want to risk losing Elizabeth to someone else since he’d loved her for so long.
In the end, Sonny gave Ric his support and sent him off to propose to Liz this evening.
After bumping into Dante during the softball tournament, Liz mentioned that she had to put together a complicated bookcase.
Dante came over to help later, but he had a knee injury that left him hobbling around.
Elizabeth eventually had Dante take his pants off so she could tend to his knee.
When Ric showed up outside Liz’s door with flowers and the ring, he peeked in through the window and was horrified.
It looked like Dante and Liz were doing something sizzling on her couch, so Ric rushed inside looking enraged.
Dante and Elizabeth were both taken aback over Ric suddenly demanding answers.
At home, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) recommended Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) as his temporary CEO replacement at Aurora during a meeting with Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson).
Michael approved of the idea, so Jordan ultimately accepted the offer.
After Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) waltzed over to Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) table at the Metro Court pool, he taunted her before joining Ava Jerome (Maura West) nearby.
Drew informed Ava that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was losing Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) as his right-hand man, so he thought this was a good time to gain more power and strike.
Since Ava had been close to Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), Drew wanted her help preparing for the asset auction that was happening soon.
Ava suggested she could advise Drew on some art pieces to buy that would go up in value.
Both Sonny and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) would be going up against Drew in this auction, so Ava offered her full cooperation when it came to helping Drew defeat them.
Once Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) arrived and delivered a veiled threat, Ava grew curious on Wednesday’s GH episode.
Drew privately explained that Brennan thought he had power over him, so he was playing along and planned to turn the tables.
Brennan joined Nina, who wanted him to dig up dirt on Michael next since he had the upper hand on Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) again.
After Jack refused, he warned Nina about enabling Willow and advised her to take a step back before Willow took her mom down with her.
At the Quartermaine gatehouse, Kai Taylor (Jens Austin Astrup) showed up to hand over his letter of resignation.
That led to Willow confronting Kai about the signed affidavits, so they argued about whether she was guilty and how it would look if Kai and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) went to the cops.
Willow eventually warned Kai that it wouldn’t be so easy to walk away unscathed before he headed off to find Trina.
Once Nina showed up afterward, Willow acknowledged that she should’ve listened to Nina about not escalating the situation with Michael.
Instead of using what happened with Jacinda Bracken (Paige Herschell) as a path to a truce, Willow pushed too hard and was paying the price now that Michael had all the power.
Nina knew it wasn’t much fun for Willow being back on the Quartermaine property.
Willow acknowledged that at least she had her Congress seat and some allies now.
At the Surf Lodge, Simon (Grady Eldridge) met Emma Scorpio-Drake (Braedyn Bruner) as he joined Trina and Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) for a meeting.
Simon was still stuck on the idea of making it seem like Gio and Trina were a couple for the sake of marketing, but they refused.
Although Trina and Gio would have to keep their real relationships a secret if they went with Simon’s plan, he suggested they could just let the fans make their own assumptions about whether they were together.
Simon felt this romantic angle would help Gio and Trina stand out from all the other performers vying for attention.
Emma was uneasy about all this, but she didn’t want to hold Gio back.
Gio assured Emma that she wasn’t and stood his ground on not doing this fake Trina romance, but Emma looked concerned as they hugged.
Kai showed up at one point and pulled Trina out of her meeting so they could discuss what just happened with Willow.
Trina hoped this meant freedom, but Kai still seemed anxious.
