General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Nathan Dean has wrapped his run as Ethan Lovett and exited the show.
Dean was recently dropped from the contract section of the closing credits, but now there’s confirmation that he’s been replaced since Christian Howard has debuted as an Ethan recast.
In the July 27 episode, GH fans got an announcement that said the role of Ethan Lovett is now being played by Christian Howard, so Howard has officially taken over the part.
However, we should note that based on upcoming spoilers, Ethan’s exit from Port Charles seems imminent.
Summer preview info indicates that Ethan is about to bolt due to his history catching up with him.
Viewers will see Ethan go on the run – and it looks like it’ll be tied to the debut of a new character named Hudson (Troy Lennon Appel) on July 30.
From there, Ethan will spill some massive news to Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) on July 31, so that may involve him telling her that he’s making a fast departure.
Lulu will no doubt put Ethan through a grilling session and suspect that he’s in some trouble, but Ethan may dodge her questions as best as he can.
The timing of this recast is bizarre since it appears Ethan’s arc is almost over anyway.
Perhaps there was a scheduling issue that prevented Nathan Dean from completing everything that needed to be filmed.
Of course, it’s also possible that the show knows they’ll still need Ethan for the next chapter of this story sooner or later.
Maybe Ethan won’t be on the run that long, so that could lead to Howard stepping back in for some big reveals – like the truth about the identity of Phoebe’s (Luna and Lucia Creighton) biological father.
Whatever the case, there’s a new Ethan on-screen at this point, so fans are already reacting to this surprising recast.
