The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that the show is shaking things up behind the scenes at the CBS soap. According to Soap Central, Josh Griffith has decided to step down from his executive producer role at Y&R.
Griffith took over executive producer duties back in 2023, but Sally McDonald was named the co-executive producer in 2025.
Now McDonald will be flying solo as the only executive producer while Griffith concentrates on writing.
Of course, that means Josh Griffith will remain the show’s head writer, which is disappointing news as far as many fans are concerned!
Griffith has been delivering lackluster storylines for years and honestly deserves to get booted from that position, too.
Now that some leadership shakeups are happening, maybe there’ll come a day when Griffith will indeed get replaced with someone more capable of providing the soapy drama that viewers are craving.
In the meantime, at least Griffith is out of the executive producer spot.
Griffith will have more time to devote to coming up with better stories, so we’ll see if that’ll make a difference in what happens on-screen moving forward.
It’s clear that something needs to change since the show tends to rely on kidnapping after kidnapping along with boring business problems.
The show could use some fresh ideas that Griffith may not be able to give us at this point.
