On tonight’s NCIS: Origins episode, the office was a living breathing thing. Kowalski watched it all from his evidence locker window. He noticed when people were working together and when they were all in their own worlds. He was dealing with the latter on tonight’s all new episode.

He called in Kowalski cocktails. He told Gibbs to tell everyone and he asked why he didn’t ask Mary Jo instead. Kowalski then said he thought Gibbs wanted to be a leader. Gibbs then asked how he said differently. So, Kowalski showed him. Kowalski told Franks about the K-cocktails. Franks immediately announced it to the whole room. And Kowalski said that’s what a leader does.

A leader take initiative without anyone asking. Gibbs thought Kowalski was mad at him after that so he slow-walked his time to the K-cocktails. He let everyone leave early and he was going to wait to be relieved from duty by the night agent. Only a few things went wrong. Franks threw out his back.

He was at his house because he needed to be there to let the repairwoman in to fix his television. He then got mad at the tv. It had on Abe Pruitt’s bigamous wife. She was claiming her husband’s innocence and she hired a very expensive lawyer to help with the PR angle.

Mike was so angry that he picked up the wrench at a wrong angle. He threw out his back. Vera stopped by his house to help him pop back into place and just as it worked – they get a call from Gail. Gail said the whole station was quarantined.

There was a man that came in looking drunk. Gibbs was putting him in the drunk tank when he began seizing. They called 911. The paramedic said it was the Lenkah virus. It was a virus that last appeared in 1924 until a few weeks ago when it showed in a young woman.

The woman was now dead. She died within a week. She was exposed in a lab. The virus mimics drunkenness at first. There was the slurred speech and impaired vision. Followed by the seizures. There is no cure for it. It often leads to death so Lala and Randy infected everyone at K-cocktails.

They were there when the man came in and Gibbs said he’d handle it. Now, Gibbs was the senior agent in the office dealing with a potential epidemic. Gail was scared because she overhead from Kowalski that he doesn’t have leadership goals.

Vera and Franks later showed up at the station in spite being told to stay away. Gibbs didn’t allow them into the building. He spoke to Wheeler. He reported that Marine Captain Brian Polonco reported being sprayed in the face by a stranger in front of his home.

He went straight to NIS to report it and unfortunately he was already showing symptoms by then. Wheeler ordered everyone into quarantine. It was feared this could be the start of bioterrorism. He and a bunch of big wigs were meeting with a specialist in the disease at Blue Ridge Medical Center.

It’s because people hated being told they couldn’t tell anyone about this that they told everyone. Everyone at the bar made phone calls to loved ones and that’s house this got out. The media got wind of it. It has people freaking out. Wheeler got into trouble for a leak when he did his best to contain the issue.

It was his people at risk. Franks wanted to know what they could do for them, but the specialist said it would take about a week to take down an able bodied man. It has a kill rate of ninety-five percent. The whole city was in a panic.

Dr. Harding said a week yet Polanco died that night. Whatever he had it was killing rather quickly. It might not even be Lenkah. They wanted a sample from Polanco’s lung. The only one qualified to do it was the paramedic. The same paramedic that was already showing symptoms. Gibbs had to do it.

He got help from Herm who was also trapped at the office. Together they got enough sample to determine this wasn’t Lenkah. This was botulism poisoning. It was very confined. It meant everyone else would live. The quarantine was lifted.

Which wasn’t good news for the paramedic. He was so sure this was Lenkah that he freaked out. He snapped from self-imposed isolation. He kept screaming everyone was going to die. He tried to fight Gibbs for lifting the quarantine. His symptoms suddenly disappeared as it had always been in the guy’s head.

The one who was most in danger was Herm for messing up the evidence locker. He let Gary Callahan eat some rotten onions. Gibbs got him to throw it back up. The dog was going to be fine.

The paramedic was part of a conspiracy group over the radio. They used that same group to get information on who would have botulism toxin. Their investigation with those crack pots led to them finding Elliott Thorpe. Franks met him earlier at the medical center. He was worried about dying.

He was afraid he breathed in what he doused Polanco. Polanco had an affair with Thorpe’s wife. It’s why he used his job to kill him. And while everyone rose to the occasion on this one – including Gail – she completely forgot about Dalton Basement.

He was in the building the whole time with no clue about what happened upstairs.

Kowalski called for another K-cocktails night and that time Kowalski felt Gibbs has the making of a team leader one day.

And Lala lied about who she was seeing because she didn’t want to tell anyone he’s a gangbanger.

THE END!
