In tonight’s Sheriff Country episode, the Fraleys threw together a boar hunting weekend. They wanted to gain investors for their company. Skye was even helping her Aunt Miranda.
She tried to include her cousin Rick because he recently got out of rehab. She thought he needed a win and he didn’t care about all of that. He started drinking. He refused to stop.
The weekend was going down the drain for Skye when the worst thing happened. There was a hunting accident. One of the investors was shot right in front of Miranda. She called for help and 911 was called. It was just too late to save Larry’s life.
Someone was dead. The hunters were all split up. The experienced ones with the inexperienced ones. They also served Bloody Marys that morning with breakfast.
It looks bad and it became worst once they realized this wasn’t an accident. This was murder. Larry was shot from a hunting tower. He was killed by a bigger caliber than everyone else in the hunting party.
It was clear someone sat up there waiting for Larry and Miranda. Though it was actually Miranda that was the target. Mickey didn’t realize it until it was almost too late.
The Sheriff’s office were going over their interviews to create a timeline. Mickey put together that Miranda took a step forward right before the shot.
She was the true target and they called to warn her just as the shooter took a second chance at killing her. Miranda got lucky again. She ducked in time.
Only it was no longer safe to stay at the Fraley Estate. Mickey invited both Miranda and her son to come stay at her place. There would be a deputy stationed out front. It would be safer there. Miranda also brought her gun with her.
With all that going on, Mickey also had to contend with he DEA. They were claiming the three million dollars. They said it directly connects to some drug dealers from Colorado.
They bought three million worth of drugs and suddenly three mill show up after a weed grower was assaulted. The DEA have connected this group to Dale Hawkins. They knew it wasn’t Dale because he was still in the hospital. They figured out that he had someone make the drop for him and that’s why they want the money. They want to build a larger case.
Mickey didn’t want to hand over the money. She called her old DEA friend, Alec Kane. He later told her he couldn’t help her with this one because he’s the one that needed that money for a bigger case. The two got in an argument. He tried to make up for it by creating a joint task force to look into the grower operation.
The sheriff’s office will get about half a million in return for their assistance. It was the most Alec could do so she forgave him. She gave up the money and all along her father planned on stealing it.
Wes knew a safecracker. She helped steal the money right from under the DEA’s noses. The whole co-op worked together. They were stealing while Mickey had gotten further with her attempted murder case. She found out that the Timber industry has been losing money for years, Miranda has al4eady started layoffs at the Fraley Mills.
Four generations of her family have controlled those mills and so Miranda didn’t want to be the one that loses it all. Its why she threw together the weekend hunting party. She was hoping on revitalizing the mills.
One of the men she fired felt differently about what she was doing. It didn’t matter that she helped them find new jobs or that she was trying to find investors so that she wouldn’t cut everyone’s insurance. The man that got upset enough to try and kill her was Cal Webb. He got a new job with the Fraleys.
Its just that he’s been fired so many times that hated seeming like a failure to his family. It was a point of pride with him. He was there when Mickey invited Miranda to stay at her place. And that’s where he planned on killing her for good.
Mickey saved Miranda’s life. She also arrested Cal. Miranda was tempted to kill him and claim self-defense later, but it was hard to do because his hands were already in handcuffs.
That and Mickey wasn’t going to stand by while she killed an unarmed man. She talked down Miranda. Miranda was glad to return home. Rick went to AA with Skye and Bode. Mickey had the house to herself and that’s when she invited Alec over. They picked up where they left off. She never learned that Boone was moments away from asking her out when he chickened out.
What she did learn was that the DEA was going to move on Edgewater with their full might now that millions have been stolen from their custody.
