Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) sends a message to Michaela Pratt (Aja Naomi King), Connor Walsh (Jack Falahee), Laurel Castillo (Karla Souza), and Asher Miller (Matt McGorry), letting them know she made reservations for dinner, and she needs them all there. As Laurel is walking with her father, Jorge (Esai Morales), telling him she is mad that he is lying to her. She admits there was a reason she wasn’t calling him back and reveals she found out she was pregnant and she aborted baby and begs him not to say anything as she can’t take any more drama. Before they leave, he insists on getting a photo with her on campus.

Laurel arrives at the restaurant, as Annalise sits with Michaela, Connor, Asher, and Bonnie Winterbottom (Lixa Weil); each of them have an envelope on their plate that they couldn’t open until she arrived.

We go to one week earlier, when Annalise is on a plane to Memphis, when a man attempts to talk to her, saying he would kick himself later, if he didn’t at least try. She introduces herself as Bonnie and his name is Desmond. She arrives at her parents’ place, who hopes she uses the money to get herself a real legal office, but Annalise tells her that now she has some extra money, they should check out the medical care facility. Her mother is furious, but they both plead that its for her own safety, she angrily tells her she doesn’t need it and to not come back there again.

Later that night, Annalise knocks on her mother’s door asking her to open it but is distracted by a call from Bonnie, who informs her they are freezing the insurance money as Hannah Keating (Marcia Gay Harden) contests her ownership of the house. Bonnie says she can fight it but it could take a few months. Annalise’s drunk father knocks on her door but she closes it and lays down on the bed stressing out and immediately searches for an AA meeting but finds Desmond’s number. She dresses up and goes to meet Desmond, and she says she isn’t there to drink.

Connor and Oliver Hampton (Conrad Ricamora) are at a gay bar when a bride insists she wants to dance with him. Connor says this is a gay bar and not a zoo attraction and that their people didn’t die so they could suck face with a stripper; Oliver suggests her to buy them some drinks. Connor feels if they were to get married it feels forced, Oliver tells him to just say yes. Oliver is not happy that Connor and the rest are invited to a dinner with Annalise but him and suggests they sneak off to Las Vegas and get married so he can get out of it.

Desmond tells Annalise that everything about her makes him feel very lucky she is there; they are just crawling on top of each other, when they are interrupted; Annalise thinks its his wife but he says its his daughter. She pushes him off and he offers to go slow but she walks out saying her name is Annalise, not Bonnie. She sneaks back into the house, but can’t avoid the bells her father had installed on the doors.

In the middle of the night, Annalise’s mother runs to wake her up saying she set Clyde on fire and they need to escape now. Annalise tells her mother its just the dementia, but when she looks down, she sees her mother urinated on the floor and she hugs her.

Michaela and Asher are shopping for beds, when the salesman is talking to Michaela, Asher acts jealous and he says its his job to be threatened. Her phone vibrates and he asks if she just tooted. Both are curious by the message from Annalise, Michaela feeling like it could be their last supper and she misses no one because she is dead inside and ruins everything.

Back in Memphis, Annalise gives her mother a sponge bath as her mother begins to sing a song they used to sing every night before a young Annalise went to bed; together they sing it out loud and laugh at the memories; she tells Annalise that she hasn’t lost her whole mind as she lotions her mom. She agrees to go look around at the home tomorrow. At the home, Annalise argues with her father who angrily that her mother is only having those memories of Clyde because she is around and reminds her that she isn’t too old for him to whip her ass; her mother is furious they are humiliating her in public and orders them to get it together.

Bonnie meets with Frank Delfino (Charlie Weber), who understands that Annalise still hates him but she needs a new office; he is very confident that Bonnie will get Annalise’s law license back, saying he has it covered and Bonnie says that isn’t the way to get Annalise to forgive her. He walks away learning that Annalise invited her and the “kids” for dinner tomorrow night.

Annalise and her sister lie in bed, who reminds her that their father is wrong and that isn’t how dementia works. She confesses that she doesn’t have the money and Sam’s (Tom Verica) sister is suing her for the house and the insurance payout is frozen. She tries to reassure her they still have their jobs but Annalise isn’t so sure because they found alcohol in her blood and might remain disbarred. She holds her hand and tells her she would be drinking too if she had Annalise’s life.

Annalise comes to sit in the kitchen and learns her father went out, giving them a chance to talk, saying the only thing that matters is what she wants. She admits to Annalise that she is “going away”, her mind is gone and her living or dying isn’t about her; she protests that her mother is sometimes more clear headed than any of them. They talk about their share of losses and she feels horrible that her baby girl has suffered that much loss and it was her job to protect her from that, and on top of all that, she is losing her and there is nothing they can do to stop it from happening and the best thing they can do is prepare for it, so its not a surprise; Annalise breaks down crying saying she can’t and her mom promises to hold on to herself for as long as she can and wants her to hold on too.

Annalise is about to leave for her hearing, when her father is putting a lock on the bedroom door. He says she can’t leave if she doesn’t have a key and she tells him “this one is on you!” If she hurts herself or someone else, it is his job to take care of her and if she finds out he drank too much and slept through that damn be… She begs him to just keep her mother safe. He apologizes for what Clyde did to her, she gathers her composure and tells him she will text him when she lands.

Bonnie stands and says its possible the results from the test could have been tampered with, but Annalise stands and says the allegations are correct and she was drunk that night. Her house burnt down and she lost everything she owned plus a life was lost; that Wes Gibbons (Alfred Enoch) took his own life in her home and every day she wakes up every day with the guilt that a young man died because she chose to take a drink. She confesses she has been sober since, and if they disbar her they will leave her with nothing but she is begging them to take mercy on her.

Back at the restaurant, Laurel sits and Annalise suggests they order food before she reveals why they are hear but Asher doesn’t want to wait. She reveals she won, and can begin practicing immediately and right now she needs a breather; Asher says the point is to eat and drink as much as they want and Laurel says she can’t because she has thought it over and she has decided to have the baby and she is due in 5 months – which is crazy soon, but that is her news.

Connor says him and Oliver will be “Guncles” which makes Michaela reveal that Oliver proposed. Before they can continue their celebration, Annalise says they need to let her finish and inside those envelopes are recommendation letters as she is letting them go. Being there has given them all a second chance and they don’t need each other so its time to go their separate ways, and reminds them to remember who they were before they met her.

Michaela says she came there to be Annalise, but look how that turned out. She tells them to look around the table and she is the reason he is gone; Asher says that was Denver (Benito Martinez). Annalise says she is the one who ruined him and she isn’t going to do that to all of them. Laurel asks if that is it and gets up from the table, saying good night and leaves. Once she is gone, Michaela snaps on Annalise, saying she doesn’t get to decide unilaterally when this is over, Asher agrees.

Connor asks them why they are complaining when this is what they wanted. Michaela wants her to honor her end of the deal and she is the only one who can fix that; Michaela grabs a bottle of champagne and storms off. Asher says don’t invite people to a fancy dinner to dump them and leaves as well. Connor thanks her for the letter and walks away as Bonnie tries to reassure her they will understand that this is good for them one day; Annalise hands her a letter as well and exits.

After the restaurant, Annalise meets with a superintendant who shows her a fully furnished apartment. She says she will take it for the month. Laurel, Asher, and Michaela read their letters; Michaela says they need to use this freedom to their advantage; together they shout they are going into beast mode. Oliver reads Connor’s letter who feels she is just blowing smoke up their asses’ Oliver is angry that she didn’t tell him he was fired nor wrote him a letter.

He says his self-esteem is taking a blow and Connor says he wants to get married and have kids and a dog and grow old and die within a week of each other but he wants to say “yes” when they are in a good place, not because he is afraid they are going to get killed or he is going to jail but because things are normal and boring and for once he wants to do something the right way. Oliver says that’s the best rejection he could ask for and they kiss.

Michaela is mulling over her letter when she gets a message from her father, with their photo and she demands to know why he killed Wes, resting with her growing belly. Bonnie sees Nate Lahey (Billy Brown) who came for a meeting with Denver while Annalise meets with her therapist (Jimmy Smits). She says she has nerves and just wants to get better; he says her showing up is a good start!

3 months later, Frank brings in the therapist to the hospital saying there were drugs in her system. Laurel wakes up and feels her flat belly asking him where the baby is; he tries to assure her everything is going to be okay. She becomes hysterical wanting to know where her baby is.
