The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that the CBS soap is always swapping partners and taking stories in new directions. That’s understandable and necessary when it comes to soaps. Y&R has to find way to keep the drama going, so that often results in breakups, makeups and shakeups.
However, it’s also nice when soaps can have at least a few couples that last. It adds a realistic element when you have certain pairings that survive and thrive. Instead of splitting, it’s great when a Young and the Restless couple can tackle their issues and work through them together.
So far, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) haven’t been hit with too many storms in their relationship. There was a minor blip early on when Devon paid off Elena’s student loans, but Elena overreacted a bit and Devon learned from the mistake.
Elena’s also stood by Devon through his recurring bouts of grief and complicated feelings over Amanda Sinclair’s (Mishael Morgan) appearance. All the confusion over Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) will also affected their relationship, but Devon and Elena made it to the other side.
In the end, none of these things were huge obstacles like cheating or some explosive scandal. That could mean Devon and Elena are due for a real test to their romance, but “Elevon” fans are rooting for them to have lasting happiness.
Long-term relationships are great on soaps since they so rarely happen. Could Elena and Devon stand the test of time? Will they progress through all the next steps of getting engaged, getting married and having a baby?
Elena and Devon would be awfully cute with a little bundle of joy. If anyone in Genoa City should be a father, it’s Devon. He’s one of the sweetest guys in town and would give his child a loving home along with Elena. Devon could follow in the late Neil Winters’ (Kristoff St. John) footsteps when it comes to being a good dad. He’d definitely make Neil proud!
