Deon is feeling a little stressed, Karen is in the hospital with Dawsyn as she has heart surgery to fix the hole in her heart. She would love Deon to be with her, but he can’t, he has to stay with the children. The children know about the surgery, but they don’t know it is her heart, or that it is serious. Karen calls Deon, she tells him that everything is good, they are wrapping up now and this part is over. Karen really looks forward to having Dawsyn home, it will be so good for her.

One week after surgery, Dawsyn contracts pneumonia, she is four months old. Karen is just trying to take it one day at a time and think in a positive direction.

One month later, they are a week away from Christmas and all the children are on break from school. They have decided to take all the kids to the park for some fresh air. The kids go play, Deon talks to Karen about having a nanny. She is open to the idea, but right now she would like to have one of their mothers. She is thankful that Deon’s mother is coming for a visit for the holidays.

Back home, the family is putting up the Christmas tree. The doorbell rings, it is Deon’s mother Gigi; she is so glad to be there to enjoy Christmas with the children. Karen hopes Dawsyn comes home for Christmas, but it is still up in the air.

Karen is a super mom, but she and Deon know they need a nanny. Robin, Lindsey Tristen, Rahel, all applications for the position. All the family interviews the candidates. Deon likes Robin because she has hands-on experience as a mother. Karen feels that everyone wants Robin, but she is not sure yet.

Five days until Christmas, Karen really wants to make this holiday special. Gigi says a prayer for Dawsyn before dinner. Karen gets a call from the hospital, she finds out that they are going to let Dawsyn go home for the holidays. Karen is really excited and says this is the best Christmas gift ever.

Deon and Karen head to the hospital, they have to meet with one of the surgeons, to show them how to feed Dawsyn through her feeding tube. Deon finds that it is a lot of information and he is a little on edge, are they going to be able to get through this. If the tube falls out, the risk is that the stomach can fall away from the abdominal wall – that can be a surgical emergency. Karen says that nothing can prepare you for having a child with instructions. One wrong move and it could be dangerous.

Three days until Christmas, the family is doing a trial with Robin. When she arrives, they are going to get the kids all in the truck and go swimming. Robin is a little nervous, she doesn’t know if she can remember all their names. Robin finds the children are very well behaved. Deon loves how attentive Robin is, he finds that she is like Mrs. Doubtfire. Even Karen says that Robin is doing good, she looks very comfortable and jumped right in. After Robin leaves, Karen says she was good.

Karen is heading to the salon, she is having some time for herself before Dawsyn comes home.

It is Christmas morning, they have a system with the gifts, everyone gets the same amount of gifts to open, and Deon and Karen both spend time with each child and play with them and their gifts.

Karen is on her way to pick up Dawsyn, she just wants her baby home to give her all the love that she needs; this is definitely the best Christmas gift. Karen is trying to set up all of Dawsyn’s supplies and she is really nervous. Karen can’t get it to work, she starts to panic and tells Deon that she is taking her back to the hospital because she can’t do it. Having her back in the hospital was not something she wanted to do, but she knew it was the best thing for her. Karen feels bad that she couldn’t care for Dawsyn.

THE END!
