Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that an intriguing clue about Charlie Dale (Mike Manning) could be right in front of us. DOOL fans may have noticed that Charlie sports a pair of reading glasses quite frequently, so we have to wonder why.
Although we’ve seen other characters wear glasses from time to time, it’s not really a typical occurrence. It feels like there may be a deeper reason for Charlie’s glasses than simply correcting his eyesight in certain situations.
When Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) suddenly started sporting glasses in November 2019, that was for a reason. It offered a new look while Xander was posing as a father to Mackenzie “Mickey” Horton aka Rachel DiMera Black (Josephine and Rosalind May). Days viewers even dubbed him “Daddy Xander” as a result.
The main goal was to show Xander looking less edgy in daddy mode and to show a sudden visible change as part of the time jump. There was a reason for the glasses to be included. It wasn’t just about Xander needing glasses, which is obvious since he doesn’t really wear them anymore.
There may also be a reason for Charlie’s glasses. Days of Our Lives isn’t being casual about the fact that Charlie wears them when necessary. It always feels like a big production when Charlie has to put his glasses on to see texts or a laptop screen.
Charlie even put them on so he could see Jan Spears’ (Heather Lindell) phone proof during the wild “Shelle” wedding.
Since it’s unusual for a character to wear glasses, it’s something we should pay attention to. Soaps are where a seemingly trivial detail can often become quite important. What could be the reason for Charlie needing glasses sometimes? Let’s talk about some interesting possibilities.
For starters, it creates a specific image for Charlie. Like “Daddy Xander,” this gives us “Nerdy Charlie.” Days may want fans to think of Charlie as an awkward, mild-mannered Clark Kent type. It might be an effort to portray Charlie as a lovable geek who couldn’t possibly be a bad guy.
Since Charlie is most likely Allie Horton’s (Lindsay Arnold) true rapist, that explains why they’d want to throw viewers off the trail. Just slap some glasses on the guy and make Charlie look innocent! However, we suspect there may be more to it than that.
Another possibility is that Allie will ultimately remember something related to those glasses. Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams) doesn’t wear glasses at all, so this could be something that doesn’t line up in Allie’s memories.
Could Allie recall a pair of glasses being on the nightstand at some point? Could Charlie even have been wearing them at the time? If Allie suddenly gets another visual in her mind – one of a man wearing glasses – that could be her first clue that Tripp isn’t guilty.
Even if Allie can’t make out the face at first, she might have a vague memory of glasses and know there could be another culprit.
Allie mentioned that her old apartment was checked for evidence, but nothing was found. Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) wasn’t surprised since someone else is living there now. Nevertheless, it’s possible evidence will surface later – like a pair of glasses that fell behind some furniture or something along those lines.
It’s worth mentioning that Tripp’s note apparently went missing from the scene. Charlie would’ve had to put his glasses on to read that note before swiping it. If Charlie dropped those glasses or accidentally left them behind, there’s still a chance they’ll turn up somehow.
Bottom line, there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to Charlie’s glasses! It’s just a matter of how this clue will fit in the story later if Charlie’s the attacker – and we feel pretty certain he is. We’ll pass along updates as other Days news rolls in.
