In tonight’s 9-1-1 episode, the 118 was dealing with an internal investigation. It all began three days ago. Chimney brought in a floater to fill in for Buck and he seemed nice at first. His name is Sam.

Sam helped with the cooking. He went with them to the building from hell. They got called to a building after the smoke detector went off.

They checked where it was coming from. It said it was triggered on the fifth floor. They went up there. They cleared the building.

They even made sure to get out this woman’s pets. The fire seemed to have started when someone took out the batteries in his smoke alarm as he cooked bacon without a hood.

The firefighters didn’t find any other sign of fire or smoke. They did their job. They left. They thought that would be the end of it and it wasn’t because someone had finally returned to his apartment. No, it wasn’t bacon guy.

It was someone who broke his leg on the first alarm. The fire alarm went off five times and Chimney ordered the whole building searched each time.

They also checked the hardwiring in the building. They found nothing. Chimney made a joke that the whole building should be disconnected.

It was a joke that proved ill-timed. They got called back to the building again because someone’s apartment was finally on fire. The injured guy just got released from the hospital and he spotted his apartment on fire. That time the alarm hadn’t gone off. He personally called 911 and the firefighters returned to see the building filled with smoke.

They cleared the building again. They just got the last person out when someone said it looked bad. It looked like everything was gone. It led to panic. There was a small riot because people thought they lost everything.

They turned on the firefighters. The threw bottles. They climbed on top of the fire truck. Chimeny gave the order to fall back to the truck. They called in for police escort. The fire was allowed to rage on.

The firefighters were all asked about what happened and there seemed to be a disconnect with the new guy. Sam was claiming that Chimney punched the building manager. It wasn’t true. Roman pushed Ravi. Chimney pushed him back. The building manager was notoriously bad at his job. Only he didn’t deserve to die because of that eventual fire.

The firefighters did clear the building before they took cover in the truck. Chimney then saw Roman running back into the building. Chimney went after him.

Roman opened a door and it led to a blast. He got fourth to fifth degree burns. Chimney carried him down several flights of stairs with him on his back. Seeing Roman like that was enough to get through to the crowd. They all survived and were deemed lucky. They didn’t see it that way at first because they cared about material objects than they did their own lives.

The firefighters kept the whole building from being destroyed. They just couldn’t figure out why Roman ran back in? It didn’t make sense. It didn’t matter if it wasn’t up to code or not.

It was literally on fire when he ran back in there and it killed him. Sam also lying about a punch meant their bosses now wanted to take Chimney’s job. Chimney’s friends and family then decided to investigate what really happened that day because someone disconnected the fire alarm after their fifth call to the building. And after they found nothing.

It turns out the building manager was a lot shadier than they thought. He sealed off a room in the basement. The firefighters found it when they returned there and they found a bunch of undocumented immigrants being held in there. They were without food or water. The room was carefully hidden.

Some ended up dying by time the 118 found them. There had been one person who saw them moving the people inside. She was told that they were moved inside to do repairs on the cheap.

They were put in a lock and hidden room. They were worried about being forgotten. They caused the fire alarms. They were trying to call for help as they lay dying.

They even set the fire as a means of escaping. Roman was going to leave them for dead. They kept setting fires until the building caught on. They nearly killed themselves in the process until they were rescued by the 118. It was a desperate cry for help that was answered. It just took the 118 longer than they thought to save the day.

Sam also ended up apologizing to Chimney. He even recounted his version of events. He admitted he was highly susceptible to people pleasing and he often tell people what they wanted to hear.

Chimney’s decisions as captain of the 118 were all being called into question. It didn’t matter that Roman proved to be a human trafficker. Or that one woman who knew about the situation yet never once mentioned those people she saw go in and never come back out to any of the authorities. Chimney was under the microscope now.

He got to keep his job.

Buck also returned to work. Sam received a permanent spot at the 144. Unfortunately, there was now a dirty cop that was refusing to help those people that were saved get justice.

THE END!
