In tonight’s NCIS: ORIGINS episode, Gibbs’s new marriage wasn’t working out. Diane was based in LA. He was based in Pendleton. They didn’t know each other that well when they got married. They decided to stay married on a whim. None of it was planned.

The true test came when Gibb’s dad visited. Gibbs was already seeing the writing on the wall by then. He and Diane were separated even if they were only ten feet apart. His marriage wasn’t working and so he didn’t actually want to introduce his wife to his father. Jackson just showed up on his own.

Jackson could be difficult. He tends to criticize Gibb’s everything and it does mean everything. He once complained about the cabinets not being right. Gibbs was worried that Jackon would ultimately end his brief marriage by being himself. It’s why he kept pushing off introducing them.

Diane took a day off work to get embarrassing stories about a child Gibbs. Gibbs had to go into work. There was a big shot Admiral in town. Admiral Cane was traveling with his wife, Julie. They were going to attend a town hall.

The Admiral sent his Deputy Commander in early to prepare everything. Franks was the NIS liaison. Franks hated working with Deputy Commander Miller. He felt like Miller look down on him for having a Texan accent. He always had these passive aggressive comments that made Franks feel like he wasn’t educated enough.

Only Franks proved he was the smarter one on tonight’s all new episode. Franks met with Miller at Daly’s. He brought along Gibbs. Miller still looked down on him and he made a quip about never seeing anyone order buffalo wings at a work lunch.

Miller naturally chose a salad. He also showed off his PDA. Miller said he kept the Admiral’s entire schedule on there. He offered to fax it over to their office.

Miller then paid and as he was leaving he spoke to a young woman. She seemed to follow him outside. Miller was out there for less than a minute when he came back in bleeding from a stab wound. He was rushed into surgery to save his life. It was up to NIS to find out who attacked him. This person also stole his PDA. They thought it was a possible attack against the Admiral.

It took Franks questioning a Miller after the man’s surgery to realize how bad things were. Miller didn’t just keep the Admiral’s schedule on his PDA. He also used it to write down his work notes. This included missions, ship movements, and classified information that should never have been left on a phone.

The Admiral was so angry with him when he found out. Franks looked good by comparison. Nevermind his accent. Franks couldn’t believe that Miller would make such a mistake and what makes it worse was that the woman he spoke to might also be involved.

Remember the woman he spoke to on his way out. She had an accent of her own. It sounded Russian and she did take off right after the stabbing. They later tracked her down. She denied being a Russian spy. She said she ran off because her visa expired. She was looking for a husband at Daly’s to get a green card.

After she said that, NIS felt a little bad for her. Franks thought she must really be desperate to scope out the lunch crowd for a husband. He doesn’t think she was involved and so he had her sit with Dalton Basement to give a sketch of the man that did stab Miller.

They were checking to see if anyone noticed this man when a second attack happened. They gave the Admiral and his wife an armed escort once that PDA got stolen. They kept telling the Admiral to cancel his speech. He refused to do so. He said there was already anger with the fleet reductions.

He wanted to be there to answer questions. Then a sniper took aim at them. The Admiral still wanted to go ahead with the town hall and he didn’t want to risk his wife. He called Senator Hart. He asked as a personal favor to use his private plane to fly his wife back to DC.

Only the Admiral was never the target. The target was always Mrs. Cane. She recently noticed a discrepancy in her finances. It turns out her aide has been stealing from her and she realized that Julia was getting closer to figuring it out. She then asked her boyfriend to kill her boss.

The boyfriend got caught at the private airfield trying to do just that. He and Maggie both got arrested. She tried to flip on him. They didn’t her for that because they had enough evidence to lock them away for life.

The Admiral was very glad his wife survived thanks to Vera and Lala. Miller was also glad they got his PDA back. He was still in trouble for keeping classified information on there, but Franks got the last laugh in that relationship. Franks also figured out that Lala’s ex Johnny wasn’t really named Johnny.

He didn’t grill her. He just noticed she was driving Manny’s car and what to know if she was alright as well as if the relationship was over. Its over. Manny sent a postcard. Gibbs told her not to encourage it.

Gibbs’s marriage ended tonight. His dad warned him that he doesn’t love Diane like he’s supposed to. She wasn’t Shannon. Nor could she ever be.

Gibbs spoke to Diane and they called it. She was moving to LA permanently now. Gibbs was staying at the apartment. He finally fixed the cabinet only neither he nor Diane went ahead with the paperwork. They were still technically married for now.

THE END!
