The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that romantic relationships are an important part of soaps and always will be.
Many fans tune in for some love in the afternoon, so it’s important for the show to deliver couples to root for.
With that in mind, let’s consider four leading men who need new romantic directions.
These characters and actors could really shine in some fresh love stories, so viewers will keep hoping that Y&R comes through.
1) Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic)
For a while, it seemed like the show was ready to reunite Nate and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), but now they’ve reentered the friend zone.
Nate needs someone else to fall for, so who’s it going to be?
Some fans are still rooting for Nate and Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) to get back together.
Audra and Nate managed to have a nice conversation recently, so anything is possible.
Other viewers feel like Nate would benefit from a brand-new love interest instead.
Maybe Nate could develop a spark with Dr. Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox) or even a new character if some lovely lady comes to town.
2) Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor)
Based on behind-the-scenes clues, it looks like Kyle and Victoria may have a bit of a dalliance in their future.
Victoria and Kyle were supposed to grow closer in some scenes that got cut or pushed back due to the show trying to make things work with the Beyond the Gates crossover.
Plus, we know Kyle and Victoria have an almost kiss coming up down the road.
However, there’s no way Victoria and Kyle are going to be a long-term pairing.
This is the kind of attraction that’s meant to blow up drama before everyone moves on.
Kyle needs a real, lasting romance with someone more suited to him instead.
Maybe Kyle could be paired up with a Summer Newman (last played by Allison Lanier) recast or someone else who’s new to the canvas eventually.
3) Matt Clark (Roger Howarth)
Of course, Matt’s redemption is proving rather controversial on social media.
Some fans aren’t happy that Matt is staying and don’t believe he’s the kind of character who can truly make amends for such horrible past behavior.
Nevertheless, Y&R clearly intends to keep Matt around, so we might as well hope he gets a romance and eventually ends all this Newman plotting.
Matt and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) have incredible chemistry, so their pairing still seems like the way to go.
4) Noah Newman (Lucas Adams)
As for Noah, he’s been stuck in this lackluster romance with Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun) for far too long.
Will Noah ultimately get a fresh start with his ex, Audra, or get paired up with someone new instead?
Regardless, some romantic changes are needed in Genoa City, so stay tuned for any relationship shakeup news on the horizon.
