Michael Lohan In Hospital For Emergency Heart Surgery

Michael Lohan was rushed by ambulance to hospital from his court-ordered treatment center in Florida last night after complaining if chest pains. Michael’s blood pressure was 200/110 which is dangerously high and when doctors examined him they discovered a blood clot in one of his lungs. Doctors have decided that Michael must have a stint placed in his heart today. Michael had heart surgery in February to clear a blockage in the posterior interventricular coronary artery. No word yet on whether Lindsay Lohan will be flying down to comfort her dad.

TMZ broke the story:  Michael Lohan was rushed to the hospital last night and will undergo heart surgery today … TMZ has learned.  According to our sources … Lohan, who is currently in a court-ordered treatment center in Florida, was not feeling well last night and complained of chest pains. We’re told he had his blood pressure taken, and when it came back 200/110 … he was immediately taken to the hospital.

After undergoing tests, our sources say doctors decided Lohan needed a stint in his heart and scheduled surgery for today. We’re also told doctors discovered a blood clot in one of his lungs.  Lohan underwent surgery back in February to clear blockage in the posterior interventricular artery of his heart.

A stint in the heart basically means that the clog is being unclogged by a metallic mesh. Sometimes, this mesh has some medicine laced onto it, which eventually makes it disappear (but leave behind the unclogged artery). Either way, it helps unclog the coronal artery and keeps a person suffering from this condition safe and secure. Also, the way with which the stint in heart is actually placed inside is through the use of an angioplasty balloon. By placing it inside through surgery and letting it inflate, the stint which is placed inside the angioplasty balloon will shape up and the balloon will then be removed, leaving the stint to do its job. T his is not a particularly difficult process for the surgeons because it can be done by the book, but the fact that it has to do with the artery and the heart still means that the surgeons must be incredibly careful.

We wish Michael the best of luck and a speedy recovery.
