#Limitless starts with Brian talking about how it is working for the FBI. He has a James Bond fantasy but it’s all about testing as they try to figure out why he’s immune from the NZT. He can’t tell them that Eddie is giving him immunity treatments. He has two guards and he calls them Mike and Ike. We see he made papier mache versions of his guards and makes them kiss. The agents are not amused. Brian tells the family he’s working for the FBI sort of. His sister prods him but his dad shuts them up since the FBI got him a new liver. He asks if he’ll get a badge and gun and they hand him tape and a stapler.

It’s day one of official duty. Boyle and Rebecca are going to investigate the accidental death of journalist Stephen Fisher. Boyle says Brian is staying there. He’s annoyed. Rebecca hands him a box with language cassettes so he can learn Farsi. She says they need analysts that speak it. Turns out while he’s on NZT they will keep him in a room looking at data. Rebecca says she didn’t expect it either and it’s a first step. She says do good work there and he’ll get out of there. Mike hands over the pill.

Brian says he thought there would be more and he pops the pill. He learns Farsi within a couple of hours. He grabs a laptop to look up the dead journo. He’s surprised to see the guy was just his age. Brian says Stephen knew who he was. Brian sees a bumper sticker on Fisher’s car that has been covered up. He calls Rebecca and says it’s not an accident. He says you can make a car crash. Rebecca tries to get him off the phone. He tells her to look under the Thoughtful Dissent sticker on the back of the car.

Rebecca says they already found it an hour ago. Brian asks about the bomb and she says they’re still looking for it. Brian says he read up and came up with a couple of designs. Rebecca says she has to go and says he’s not allowed out of the office on NZT. She hangs up and Brian talks to himself in Farsi. He wonders what would happen if he walks out. He thinks back to the layout of the place. There’s a room next door where they’re giving flu shots. He locks out the guards and busts out.

He’s on the street dusting off sheetrock happily. Brian is happy to be free and does looking for the items he needs. He maxes out his credit cards, then goes in with $17 to the casino and wins a stack of cash then they kicked him out. He makes a couple of bombs and counsels some people on the bus on the way to the crash site. He tells them all goodbye and then delivers the bombs. Rebecca asks if he knows how many people are looking for him?

Nasreen chews him out and says if he does it again she will pull his credentials and send him to DC to be studied. He hears her like a Charlie Brown parent. Boyle uses Brian’s model to find a bomb fragment. He says he’s seen a bomb like this before – made by a guy called Taurus. The same bomber built the bomb that killed Stephen Fisher. Boyle isn’t impressed and says Brian is just performing on performance enhancing drugs. He crashes after his NZT high and Rebecca wakes him. He runs out.

Brian goes to see his dad at the hospital and he says he had to fight with the insurance people. He says the insurance company doesn’t want to cover an in-home nurse that his mom wants him to have. Dennis asks if the FBI gig will last and Brian says he’s not sure and his dad asks if this is what he wants for himself. Brian watches TV and sees Eddie’s Senatorial poll results and thinks about how much he can’t tell anyone about what’s going on in his life.

He wonders why Eddie wants him working for the FBI. He googles Eddie and NZT and his computer goes wonky and his TV screen locks up. Next day, he tells Rebecca and Boyle he’s on the straight and narrow. Mike comes to tell them later that Brian figures out who Taurus is. He admits he read their lips and that’s how he knows the name of the bomber. He says he saw them talking on the way back from the bathroom yesterday. He asks if they want to know who Taurus is then says he can stay in his lane.

Rebecca caves and asks to tell him what they know. He says high level engineering and the pool of who he can be isn’t that large. He says a security firm guy called Darren Cullen shows up on TV to talk about these incidents. He says one of the bombs used acid and then Darren showed up with a bandage. He has patents for what looks like one of the bomb devices. Boyle asks if this commentator builds bombs in his apartment. Brian says he doubts he builds them at home and says Darren has an auto shop.

Rebecca and Boyle follow him inside and they see vintage autos he’s restoring. They poke around. Rebecca spots a discrepancy in the car parts and notes he has nothing for the Porsche. She pops open the boot of the sports car he’s obviously not repairing and funds bomb components. At the bureau, Rebecca says they know he’s Taurus and he’s going to jail for the rest of his life. They offer him some help if he gives the names of his clients and asks who hired him to kill Stephen Fisher.

Larry Trestment head of security at Longitude Construction which Stephen was investigating for using unpaid labor. Darren says he’s Taurus but didn’t kill Fisher. Rebecca tells Brian that he built the bomb and set up the Bluetooth but the chip was never activated. He died a mile before the bomb would have killed him. Rebecca says the ME thinks he may have had a stroke based on increased heart rate on his Fitbit. Brian says they can’t just call it a day since Stephen risked his life to save people.

Rebecca says no matter what, he did good since they caught Taurus and are arresting his clients now. Brian thinks, once he’s alone, that Stephen had no risks. Then he wonders if you can trigger a stroke. Brian tricks Mike and Ike and gets away again. He ponders how you could cause a stroke. He goes to talk to people then also stops by his dad’s insurance company. Rebecca comes home and finds Brian at her place. He says Stephen died of foul play and some others too.

He has stuff all over her walls and says he went to a bunch of hospitals. He says two other young guys also had strokes and died right after the flu. He says the two other men who died are from Pakistan and claim to be descendants of Genghis Khan. He says what if someone found a way to target that trait that Stephen also had. He talks about targeted viruses that seeks out genetic traits and the Khan marker is quite common. He says most people would get the flu but the right genetics means death.

He shows her a cup of coffee from a specific coffee shop and says Young Molly’s is ground zero for the virus. Brian wakes to a note from Rebecca threatening to shoot him if he breaks in her place again and says she left bagels and will see him at work. He reluctantly heads in to the bureau where Nasreen mocks his Genghis Khan theory. Rebecca comes in and asks if Brian brought her up to speed. Rebecca says she went to the coffee shop and found something.

She says she went through the security feed and a guy walks up and messed with the cups. Someone nearby caught a pic of him using an aerosol to spray the coffee cups. Rebecca thinks Stephen was collateral damage because he sprayed the cup of a woman and some just ended up on Stephen’s cup by accident. Brian takes his pill then listens to Boyle, Rebecca and Nasreen talk about the woman they think is the target. Then Brian talks about the Khan marker being male only.

Brian says it was an assassination and that woman has someone in her life that’s the target. Rebecca says the woman must be a regular at the coffee shop. Brian tells them to have fun out chasing it. Nasreen tells Rebecca she was going to fire him but Rebecca says every time he leaves the building, he does great things. Nasreen says he’s dangerous and Rebecca says he’ll move past this and says he trusts her and she should assign Brian to her. They do. She and Brian head to the coffee shop.

He points out security cameras and they spot her. He used cameras to follow her. They see her browsing in a rug shop then goes to the Essex Hotel where she meets a man. They head into an elevator and start making out. He looks like the right genetic profile. Brian says he has stuff to do while the use facial recognition. He shows up to family dinner before the NZT wears off. He gives them advice then kills them at Trivial Pursuit.

He falls asleep on his parents’ couch then wakes later. He goes to his dad’s computer and does the search on Eddie and NZT. The screen scrambles and the power in the house goes off. His dad comes in and Brian says he had an extra beer or two then feel asleep. Dennis asks how he’s doing and says the FBI told them about the designer drug then he got him a new liver and beat them all at Trivial Pursuit. His dad asks if he’s using this drug. He acts offended and his dad says they can talk about anything.

He swears to his dad there’s no drug but his dad says he knows he’s keeping a secret and says he won’t play along when he’s lying to him. Brian comes to work stressed out and Rebecca says they got a hit – the guy is a general in the Army. They head to his office and find him collapsed on the floor seizing. Rebecca tells Brian the General will likely survive. They watch a video about Miles Amos at the company called Eukaryote. They ask to see Miles Amos and ask him about genetically targeted viruses.

Miles says they don’t exist yet and Rebecca says they think someone used a virus to target a general with the Khan marker. Rebecca says she knows the general is the swing vote on a measure that will affect Miles’ company. He says this is absurd and Brian says he wrote his Masters thesis on the Khan marker. He says they have no evidence but they have him spraying the cup and they can see a prominent birth mark. He says if they can find a judge to believe them, good luck.

He says they can’t even compel a warrant and they’re bluffing. They leave and Brian says they crashed and burned. They walk through the Eukaryote offices and Brian tells the employees they’re with the FBI and tells her to flash her badge. He says they all hate Miles and to let him work. She flashes her badge and Brian says they work for a douche who is a murderous douche. He says if you worked on genetic viruses, you helped him kill someone.

The emails start flying in and Brian tells Miles he has a morale issue. He earned his FBI laminate, if not a badge. Rebecca says it even comes with a lanyard. She says Miles confessed and says she has to clean up after his messes from now on. He says he gets it. She asks why he’s not happier. He says he doesn’t like the lying and it won’t stop. She asks if his dad is still licensed as an attorney. She tells him to hire his dad as an attorney so he has attorney client privilege.

Brian offers his dad $10. He says if he takes it, he can talk to him. Brian hears whistling and sees his dad’s nurse is Sipiwe – the same woman who gives him his immunity shots and works for Eddie. The nurse says his dad’s health won’t be compromised as long as he follows her instructions to the letter. That was a very direct threat. Now he has to decide if he’s going to put his dad’s life at risk to confide in him.

Done.
