Good guy Jared Haibon commented on fellow Bachelor in Paradise co-star Ashley Iaconetti’s possessive nature in a new interview. In perhaps the biggest understatement ever to be uttered in the history of reality television, Jared Haibon called Ashley Iaconetti “a little bit possessive” in a recent People interview. “It’s not that difficult to be sweet to Ashley I. She can be a little possessive, [but] that is something I very much adore about her.”
The statement is in sharp contrast to his constant looks of complete discomfort every time Ashley Iaconetti bursts into tears and starts professing her love to him, despite every indication that he not only is never going to be interested in her, but that he also is very much interested in co-star Caila Quinn.
Ashley I. has been obsessed with Jared Haibon ever since season two of Bachelor in Paradise. Ashley thought she finally had her chance to make wedding bells ring when she moved onto the beach with Jared in a recent episode. When Jared obviously preferred Caila Quinn over Ashley, she resorted to calling Caila a “backstabbing whore of a friend” and spent the rest of the episode sobbing.
Throwing all caution and pride into the tropical wind, she then began entreating Jared to love her with cringe-worthy pleas such as “”I’m sorry. I’ve never felt for anyone the way I feel for you. I’ve never felt that way so it’s hard to let it go. I always had hope and I should never have had it. How am I supposed to find another you???“
Jared Haibon is either a saint or very cautious about not wanting to seem cruel or unfair to the unstable Ashley Iaconetti. In the interview when asked to comment on his relationship with Ashley I. he mildly said, “unfortunately, it just wasn’t there for us.” He failed to mention the Herculean strength and self-control it took to not hurl himself into the ocean and paddle furiously in the opposite direction of his self-professed soul mate.
Ever the optimist, Jared Haibon is still hoping to meet his future wife: “Everybody wants that. Everyone is looking for someone they can really put their trust in, share memories with and fall in love with.”
Will somebody please give Jared the Olympic gold medal for “Nicest Guy Ever”?
