‘The Americans’ finale spoilers for Season 4 Episode 13 ‘Persona Non Grata’ reveal that the season finale on Wednesday, June 8 will be electrifying. William is in danger of being exposed and two forces race to get to him first. Who wins and who loses?
Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich) and Dennis Aderholt (Brandon J Dirden) are hot on the tail of William (Dylan Baker). Based on the concerned tip from Oleg Burov (Costa Ronin), Stan and the Feds have stepped up surveillance of the sketchy scientist.
Remember, William just told Philip Jennings (Matthew Rhys) was an awful way to die and the scientist-spy might get to find out just how bad tropical hemorrhagic fever really is. Although the Directorate S operatives rush to try and intercept William and his dangerous package, the FBI beats them.
Looks like William will lurk under a freeway overpass while Stan and Dennis idle nearby watching through binoculars. William cuts his hand on something – looks like he was nervously toying with the vial of Lassa virus and he infected himself just before the Feds close in on him.
Gabriel (Frank Langella) discovers that William was captured by the FBI and then the Directorate handler meets up with Philip and Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell) to warn them that they, and their kids, need to be ready to run because William might talk.
But since William knows his death is inevitable, why would he rat out his country when he’s got just hours to live? William will tell Stan and Dennis that there’s nothing they can do to him – or for him – since he’s been infected.
How will his capture affect Tatiana Evgenyevna (Vera Cherny) and is there any chance that she’ll figure out that Oleg is the one who ratted to the FBI? Could Oleg’s actions result in him meeting the same fate as Nina Krilova (Annet Mahendru)?
Tatiana will be left reeling since getting the Lassa sample from William was her ticket to the Director position in Nairobi that she so proudly told Oleg about. And if Tatiana thinks Oleg ruined her operation, will she think it was professional jealousy rather than genuine concern?
Gabriel reminds Philip and Elizabeth that they’ve always been in danger and that the job wasn’t meant to be forever. Elizabeth looks stunned at the notion that they may have to leave the US. No doubt Paige Jennings (Holly Taylor) won’t be pleased at the idea of moving to the USSR.
Plus, Henry Jennings (Keidrich Sellati) would be most shocked of all since he’s the sole family member with no clue about their Soviet ties. Other spoilers for the season finale hint that Paige might follow her parents into the family business – monitoring Stan through his son could be just the start of things.
