Prince William Overlooks Kate Middleton's Birthday: Puts Royal Work Before Relationship, Hates Celebrating?

Kate Middleton’s birthday celebration might be overlooked this year. Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge have a busy schedule the week of Kate’s 35th birthday on Monday, January 9. It appears that Royal responsibilities have finally become a priority in the Cambridges’ lives.

On Tuesday, January 10, just one day after Kate’s birthday, Prince William is scheduled to visit Centrepoint, a hostel that offers shelter and other resources to homeless youth in the United Kingdom.

The next day, Wednesday, January 11, William and Kate are scheduled to visit the Child Bereavement UK Centre, a charitable organization of which the Duke of Cambridge has been a patron since 2009. While there Kate and William will attend a Family Support Group session which includes discussions of memories and feelings regarding bereavement, and assistance in finding support networks.

Kate Middleton is also reportedly scheduled to visit the Early Years Parenting Unit, an outreach of the Anna Freud Centre of which the Duchess of Cambridge is a patron. The EYPU opened its doors in 2011 and provides early intervention for proper mental health care to families with children five years of age and younger.

It seems that Prince William hasn’t made much of a fuss over Kate’s birthday since 2006. According to previous reports about Kate’s birthday celebrations, the Middletons celebrated Kate’s birthday in 2006, 2007 and 2008 without William around at all.

In 2009, William’s car was spotted parked in the Middletons’ driveway and it was assumed that the prince spent the day celebrating his future wife’s birthday with the Middleton family. When 2010 rolled around, William was nowhere in sight again on Kate’s birthday.

Even in 2011, the last birthday for Kate before marrying William was reportedly a very quiet day. The couple, just 3 months away from the wedding of the century, attended the wedding of dear friends Sarah Stouton and Harry Aubrey-Fletcher in Yorkshire.

It wasn’t until 2012 that Kate’s birthday was finally celebrated in Royal style. The night before Kate’s 30th birthday William and Kate spent the evening with Steven Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston for the Royal gala premiere of ‘War Horse.’

The next day, on Kate Middleton’s birthday, friends and family were invited to an elaborate dinner party in the private dining room at Kensington restaurant. In 2013, now pregnant with Prince George, Kate was treated to a Cirque du Soleil show at the Royal Albert Hall accompanied by William, family and some close friends.

In 2014, Kate spent the day with Carole Middleton and Pippa Middleton. William was studying agriculture at Cambridge University and wasn’t home to celebrate Kate’s first birthday a new mum. In 2015, now pregnant with Princess Charlotte, Kate spent the day quietly with William and George at home.

It appears Prince William doesn’t have a splashy, over-the-top birthday celebration planned for Kate Middleton. The Cambridges, called the laziest Royals of 2016, will be much too busy focused on their Royal responsibilities.
