Amy Winehouse died tragically Saturday in London and already the greedy vultures are circling – who will get Amy’s money. Amy is thought to have left a fortune of between $15 million and $30 million and the obvious question is, who is going to inherit?
It all depends upon if she left a will and the details of what the will states. Right now its looking like that it will be Blake Fielder-Civil who gets it all.
When Amy and Blake married any earlier will became invalid as English law states that any prior will is replaced with the spouse as the heir. However, getting divorced doesn’t reverse this situation. This means that only if Amy wrote a new will after her divorce would Blake Fielder-Civil not be the natural inheritor of her estate.
Many people consider that Blake was largely responsible for escalating Amy’s drug abuse to lethal levels. If Amy does not have a will written since her divorce then expect some challenge to allowing Blake to inherit her estate.
