President Barack Obama‘s campaign sent out an e-mail to his supporters asking them to buy t-shirt and mugs with images of him and the line ‘Made in the USA‘ and a copy of his birth certificate.
His campaign manager Julianna Smoot said, “There’s really no way to make this stuff completely go away. The only thing we can do is laugh at it – and make sure as many people as possible are in on the joke. Last year, the President said, ‘I can’t spend all of my time with my birth certificate plastered on my forehead.’ This is about as close as we can get.”
Donald Trump who was considering a run at the Presidency but has since decided not too brought the issue to the forefront of the news again. His repeated repeated questioning of the legitimacy of Obama’s citizenship and recent taunts about his failure to produce what ‘The Donald’ convincing of Obama’s birth in the United States is what led to the Obama team producing the Hawaiian long form birth certificate.
According to the email, the campaign reaction was in response to a book, “Where’s the Birth Certificate” set to release later this week.
