Gerard Depardieu needs to wear Depends it seems. Conflicting stories about Gerard’s urination ‘event’ on board a airline continue as his friend, Edourd Baer, says the incident was harmless.
French actor Gerard Depardieu relieved himself into a bottle on a plane on Tuesday evening because he’s suffering “prostate problems,” according to his friend.
Gerard was travelling with Baer on a flight from Paris to Dublin that was delayed on the runway. According to Baer, Gerard was told by the cabin crew that passengers were not allowed to visit the bathroom until after take-off so he urinated in an empty bottle towards the rear of the plane. Urine splashed onto the floor, prompting the plane’s pilot to taxi back to the terminal so the aircraft could be cleaned and the flight was delayed for a further two hours.
In a statement, Baer says, “Gerard is very sorry for what happened. He wanted to go to the toilet but he was forbidden because we were about to take off, so he was forced to do it on the plane in front of everybody. I found the solution by passing him a mini Evian water bottle, but it was too small and overflowed. “He has prostate problems and it was very worrying and humiliating for him. He was also stone-cold sober at the time. This is not the way he usually behaves.”
But according to an eye-witness fellow passenger Depardieu looked drunk and said “I need to piss, I need to piss,” the woman told France’s Europe-1 radio. When told to remain seated, the woman says “he stood up and did it (urinated) on the ground.” An airline spokesperson confirmed the series of events and said the passenger, whom she would not name, was escorted off the plane.
