Am I the only one who wasn’t aware about MTV remaking the classic (and I do mean classic) 1985 Michael J. Fox flick, Teen Wolf? It took a minute to wrap my head around this, but I quickly came to the realization that it was only a matter of time before someone jumped on this – it’s not like we’ve been living under a canopy of Vampires or Werewolves already….
So, first things first. The new series, which premiers June 5th after the MTV Movie Awards, stars Tyler Posey as Scott McCall – a shape shifting young teen who falls for the new girl in town played by Crystal Reed. Let us not forget to mention she bears an uncanny resemblance to Kristen Stewart. Just putting it out there.
After watching the trailer, it’s clear that although the series takes the name of one of my favorite films of all time, there is little in common with the original cult movie aside from the fact that our main guy is a werewolf. Why then is it pegged a ‘remake’? Fans expecting to see similarities are sure to be disappointed. With that being said, it’s clear MTV is determined to update the classic, giving it more of a darker and intense spin, particularly into the realm of horror romance – not overly seen in the original.
In staying positive, I’m definitely going to give this a shot. Fans should be open minded – really open minded – our main guy plays LACROSSE! This, I can potentially forgive. The jury is still out.
My underworld obsession is no secret, and I’m prepared for a little wolf action mixed with a little romance. If I have to wait until November for some Edward and Bella screen time, let’s hope this new show does not disappoint!! But if they bring vampires into the mix of Teen Wolf, that might just be going a bit too far. Check out the trailer and see for yourself, what are your thoughts?
