Zsa Zsa Gabor Faces Leg Amputation To Save Her Life

Zsa Zsa Gabor’s right leg is turning gangrenous and will have to have part of it amputated to save her life.

At 93, Zsa Zsa was doing well until an infection set in in November and doctors discovered a serious blood clot.  Blood circulation was the problem and yesterday the actress was taken to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles as infection spread.  Her representative John Blanchette said “they’re going to have to amputate part of her leg,” adding “they said if they didn’t, she could lose her life.”

John explained the situation“She developed a lesion on the leg that had swollen a while back and caused her to go to the hospital for treatment, but it has not responded. In fact, it has increased in size, and the doctors have wanted to operate for several days.”

Apparently Zsa Zsa had been warned to go to hospital earlier but she wanted to spend the Christmas and New Year period with her husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt.

As we age it is so important to take daily walks to maintain some level of physical fitness, circulation, muscle strength, cardio-vascular health, etc. – the irony is that it is usually younger people who are keen on exercise but it is the older folk for whom exercise is critically important.
