Okay – eassssy Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. The two will soon be starring (alongside a huge array of other talented actors) in The Hunger Games film, due to hit theaters March 23rd.
And what have they done to perturb me you ask? Just because fans are finding the popularity of the Hunger Games books similar to that of the Twilight saga, does not mean it is ok to ‘diss’ my vampire series. The Hunger Games is going to not only put these boys on the ‘it’ list and establish their careers, but it is guaranteeing them a paycheck with two more follow-up films, Catching Fire and Mockingjay.
So when I heard the two stars recently talk about the ‘comparisons’ between the two epic stories, my interest (and perhaps dismay) was elevated.
According to Josh: “I’m not a huge fan of the comparisons to Twilight just because I think that it’s a very different world.”
He goes on to say the book is more about “Katniss and her survival and more of a tribute to freedom and kind of giving the little guy power over the big guy.” And I suppose Bella never had to go through her own battle of survival?
Josh said: “I’m not a huge fan of the comparisons to Twilight just because I think it’s a very different world…I understand why people make the connection just because it’s a popular teen book…but the story is really more about Katniss and her survival”
