Hell hath no fury like a man scorned! It seems Kris Humphries is still a little tiffed at ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, and their highly publicized and mocked 72-day union.
The New Jersey Nets star is so upset he’s dragging out the divorce proceeding resulting in still no consensus over the spoils of their short marriage. Now this could be the reality show we’ve all been waiting for!
Despite having a prenup tighter than Kim’s face, Kris is actually challenging it citing Kim defrauded him by marrying him only for TV ratings for her family’s hit show, ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians.’ But Kim’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, says she sees straight through Kris and his attention-loving antics. Wasser told the judge today that media attention and Kris’s animosity are dragging the case out.
She’s probably right. The longer it goes on the harder Kim’s image takes a beating and no amount of “candid” paparazzi shots with new boyfriend, Kanye West, will help that.
But it looks like it will continue. The judge said Kim could be deposed and asked to answer about her motivations for marrying Kris. And now there’s a dispute over jewelry…the ring perhaps? Will we finally find out if Kim paid for the 20 carat rock herself?
Kim’s not just taking this lying down though. Wasser said Kim will request Kris pay her attorney’s fees if they have to go to trial and Kim wins.
I can’t make up my mind on this one. I’m still not sure I believe Kim “defrauded” Kris. Perhaps used for her convenience would be more accurate. I actually think she believed she loved him. I mean we did her crying on her reality TV show, didn’t we?
But I don’t blame him for going after her like this either. Kris’s image and basketball career have been tarnished by this debacle. Is it juvenile? Of course it is! But it’s Kris Humphries! When did he ever come off looking remotely mature when he was on that show?
Shame on Kim for not knowing what she was getting into, she should have known better! Of course she needed something to spice up her reality TV empire and a wedding was just the ticket. Kris was eager, willing, and available – a higher profile celeb wasn’t ready to marry Kim at that time. But now she’s paying the price both in the courts and in the court of public opinion and, in her line of work, one is just as damning as the other.
