‘Take Me Out’ Season Premiere Live Recap 6/7/12

Tonight George Lopez returns to television with Fox’s new dating show, “Take Me Out”. The show has a lot of promise, as it is from the same producers behind American Idol and The X Factor and has been adapted from a U.K. original show. Stay tuned as we live blog the premiere episode with all the up-to-the-minute details and action.

The show features 30 “hot” women who are presented to male hopefuls who need to make an awesome first impression. There are a series of rounds, the first one is just taking a look at the goods when the women can drop out or stay in for the chance to date some guy with a six pack in the hopes of being the final women to go to the tropical-looking “Take Me Out Resort” with him.

While the women appear to have control in this game, the tables turn at some point as the man then gets to drop the women he is not interested in. When only two women are remaining, the man asks one final question before he chooses the winner.

Official synopsis: Guys and gals eliminate each other in this dating game, in which first impressions are key. The women go first, controlling switches that illuminate men who they think light up their lives. Then the male survivors have their say.

The host of the show is comedian, George Lopez who can’t wait to get going, “I am thrilled to be hosting such an entertaining new series, anything can happen on a show like Take Me Out, and I’m looking forward to the excitement.”

We will be live blogging tonight’s episode with all the excitement, so don’t forget to come back to this spot at 8:00 PM EST to spend the evening with us. Make sure tor refresh often to get the most current results! While you wait for the recap, check out a sneak peek of tonight’s episode below.

RECAP: “Take Me Out” takes 30 women who are introduced to a slate of bachelors. Each woman is at a podium with a switch that controls her light. If she likes a guy, she keeps her light on for him. Just like Motel 6.

Eventually, the men take over choosing the women and eventually the last bachelor standing picks his woman for a romantic date and then the remaining 29 women plus one new one start over the next round.

George Lopez introduces the girls who I must say, aren’t very sharp. They all look similar with different color hair. Brandon is the first guy out and he looks like he’s straight off the farm. 25 out of 30 girls leave their lights on, meaning they are “turned on”- or maybe interested. The catch phrase is, “If Brandon doesn’t turn you on, turn your light off.” Brandon is a gym rat that trains the elderly. He hunts, fishes and is looking for a life long partner. Brandon shows his neurotic side with his Tupperware containers filled with his day’s worth of meals that travel with him. The containers were too much I guess and all the lights went out- or it was a “blackout”.

John from New York is up next. His Mohawk was a turn off and a bunch of lights went out immediately. John tours with the show Stomp and says he’s a big teddy bear. He tries to wow the girls with his live drumming skills and it’s a tactic that works. Larena likes how comfortable he is with himself. Samantha is in a band and a self-proclaimed bad girl. They are the two he has to choose from for a date and of course, he went with the bad girl.

Eric from Sin City makes the worst impression imaginable. He comes out grinding to “Sexy and I Know It” and then opens his mouth. He is rude, obnoxious and not gonna last long. In fact, he has only ONE light left on but it goes out fast once he decides to dance in a silver speedo. Total blackout.

Now it’s obvious we sat through three clunkers to get to the prize. Alan from Italy makes these women swoon. At least until he cracks out his Gladiator costume. That turns a whole bunch of lights off. He ends up with a date with aspiring fashion designer, Mackela.

Not sure how long this show will last. It’s a bit too predictable and clichéd.

The end!
