Ben Affleck Cast As Batman In Man Of Steel Sequel - Decision Final

OH MY GOD. After the epic critical and commercial success of the Dark Knight trilogy, this is what the DC universe has sunk to. Ben Affleck will be playing Batman. Let me repeat that – Ben Affleck from Daredevil and Gigli will be playing Batman. Fine, those were a long time ago, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

But his whole career comeback has been on his skill as a director, not AN ACTOR. He’s not a bad actor, but when you consider that it was Christian Bale who played the character before him, it’s a massive downgrade. MASSIVE.

This whole DC movie plan has become a mess, and it’s obvious that they’re trying to play catch-up to Marvel. Henry Cavill was perfect for Superman, and although Man of Steel was met with mixed reviews, I really thought they would try up the ante for the second one. Then they announced that the Man of Steel sequel would feature Batman, and I started worrying. And now, my worry has been completely justified.

I want to have faith in this project, I really do. I want a kick-ass Batman and Superman movie! But is Ben Affleck going to have the gravitas and screen presence to play Batman? Really? Do  you guys remember how badly he sucked in Daredevil? I would be much, much happier if he stayed behind the camera on this one, but alas, Warner Brothers has already made the decision.

WB already released a statement saying, “We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.”

I’m still going to try to wait until the first trailer to see if they prove me wrong. People thought Heath Ledger would suck too, and they were proved wrong. But Heath was always a terrific actor, and their worries were more about his look than his acting abilities. My worries are focused solely on Ben Affleck’s acting abilities. Would you believe that Ben Affleck can kick Henry Cavill’s ass? I don’t. And my faith in Zack Snyder as the director has gone down after Man of Steel. And Chris Nolan will have even less involvement in this one, if reports are to be believed.
