It has been a pretty rocky year for Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev. The couple of three years appeared to hit a rough patch somewhere around the Oscars last February that ultimately resulted in a split. We have watched Nina especially run the gamut of emotions with tweets pointing towards being cheated on and demanding an apology, then lots of self esteem boosters followed that for awhile. There were a few appearances together, such as Comic Con back in July that seemed a little chilly but by the time the duo returned to work on The Vampire Diaries they seemed to be in a good place.
Rather than avoid each other like the plague, Ian and Nina have traded playful barbs and seem to be getting along fabulously. Regardless of what has happened in the past, the two have clearly patched up the friendship that brought them together in the first place. Ian wasn’t afraid to publicly compliment Nina on her new Cosmo cover, leading many to wonder if these two are headed for a reconciliation.
In their months apart it has become glaringly obvious how different their personalities really are. Ian is ostensibly focused on saving the world, one cause at a time, while Nina is very much a playful young woman that is enjoying the guilty pleasures in life – such as Dancing With the Stars. The two seem to have forged a relationship now that is accepting of who they really are, including their differences and that might actually bring them back together for real. Opposites attract and there is already three years worth of emotion sitting between Ian and Nina. Maybe this is where their real and adult romance will begin.
