Kate Middleton and Prince William Not Invited to Countess Of Wessex, Sophie's, Doctor Who Party At Buckingham Palace?

It looks like some of the royals are getting their revenge for not being invited to Prince George‘s royal christening. Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, will reportedly be holding a Doctor Who party at Buckingham palace, with the actors and producers in attendance, but she’s rumored to be leaving two very important guests off the list: Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The party is a special Doctor Who 50th Anniversary party, and considering that Sophie has always been a massive fan of the show, it will no doubt be an event to remember. A source does say that while a party held at the palace is unusual for television shows, Doctor Who is an exception. Extra explains, “It is unusual for a television series to be accorded this kind of recognition from the Royal family, but Doctor Who has become – like James Bond – a great British institution and so it seems right to give it a bit of a pat on the head.”

Well, that’s all good and well, but if it’s being held at the Buckingham palace, how is Sophie going to avoid inviting William and Kate? Both Will and Kate, in addition to Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles, are reportedly fans of Doctor Who, which will make the snub all the more noticeable.

But then again, as Prince William’s aunt, I’m sure Sophie expected an invitation to the Christening. And yet, both she and her sister, Anne, were left off the guest list. It’s got to sting, right?

And yes, a Doctor Who anniversary party isn’t as big as a Royal Christening, but I think it’s as close as they’re going to get to feeling like they got their retribution for such a public snub.
