Kim Kardashian is back at it. After supposedly attempting to stay away from social media for a few weeks, she couldn’t resist uploading several new pictures of her daughter, North West, with fashion designer Riccardo Tisci.
Now, if we didn’t know any better, we could almost assume that Kim was just a proud new mother showing off her cute baby daughter. After all, the pictures are definitely adorable, and this is actually the first time we’re seeing North in clear candids instead of grainy paparazzi photos. Kim uploaded the images to Instagram on Tuesday night with the caption, “#NewStylist.“
However, since we DO know Kim Kardashian, after years of witnessing her famewhoring in action, we have a different take on this whole situation. What is it, you ask? Why, she’s showing off, of course.
Riccardo Tisci is a famous Italian fashion designer and creative director for haute couture brand Givenchy. Given Kim’s history [or lack thereof] with high-end fashion labels and her infamous snub from the Met Gala photo galleries, it’s likely that she just wanted to prove that she did have fashion connections after all. I mean, apart from Dior, Chanel, and Prada, it doesn’t get much better than Givenchy, right? I’m sure there are a few more brands missing there, but Givenchy is definitely an A-list brand and usually not one that associates itself with D-list reality stars.
So this is Kim’s way of indirectly putting herself back in the spotlight, by using her daughter and also revealing her improving connections with the fashion A-list. ‘Look everyone, I know a real designer. Not one that I found off the streets of L.A. But one from Europe, who’s part of a famous international brand’. That, except ten times whinier.
Now let’s just hope that the rest of the fashion industry does NOT follow suit, or we’ll never see the end of Kim. It will be the D-list apocalypse, and once that happens, there will be no turning back.
