Maksim Chmerkovskiy Returning To Dancing With the Stars.
He had said, “I just want to set the record straight to all of my amazing fans that I will unfortunately not be returning for this season of Dancing With the Stars. I’ve been a pro dancer on the show for about seven years now and am eager to explore other opportunities that have been made possible because of Dancing With the Stars. I’m going to take this time to dive into producing and acting, while fulfilling my sponsorship obligations.”
However, ABC’s President of Entertainment gave a statement that there’s a high chance that Maksim will return, saying, “Maks is part of the family. He may well be back. We love having him be part of the show.”
Considering that it is the 17th season of the competition show, I can see how Maksim might want to do something else for a while, especially because he’s now 33 and probably won’t have the physical prowess he has forever.
It’s not clear who else will be returning for the next season, as there were rumors of more departures from the regular cast of Dancing with the Stars. However, considering that Dancing with the Stars has gotten more lucrative over the last few years [especially with syndication rights], the network can probably afford to pay its stars as much as they want to keep them on. Maksim is one of their biggest assets, and his name has always been a big draw for fans of his, so they won’t want to let him go.
What do you guys think? Will Maksim return? Or is ABC just trying to convince the media that he is? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
