Teen Mom 3 Finale Review and Recap: Season 2 In Doubt?

On the season finale of MTV’s Teen Mom 3, all four girls dealt with their baby-daddies in their own way. A few of them made progress with their relationships, and a few of them seemed to back-paddle a few steps.

Briana decided to swallow her ride and invite Devoin to Nova’s first birthday party (he did show up to her house, so he earned an invite). Her family doesn’t necessarily agree with her, one box of Pampers after a year of being a dead beat isn’t exactly a grand gesture. Devoin is on a mission to impress Briana’s family. Not only does he show up for Nova’s birthday party, he helps decorate, and makes amends with Briana’s Mom and Briana.

Alex spent some quality time at the beach in Bermuda with her Mom and Arabella. Meanwhile Arabella’s Dad Matt sat around feeling sorry for himself and crying on his friend Carlos’s shoulder. After a day at the beach Alex paid her Grandma a visit, their visit was interrupted when Matt texted Alex and asked her to meet up with him at the park. Alex’s Grandma strongly advises against her meeting up with Matt, but she doesn’t seem fazed by her opinion. She probably should have just listened to her grandma and saved herself a trip, because he didn’t bother to show up to the meeting that he called.

Although Josh hasn’t been showing much of an interest in a reconciliation, Mackenzie invited him to join her for dinner at Red Lobster. She also confides in her friend Cayla that she wants to try going to counseling. Since Josh hasn’t been responding to her, she decided to pop up at his house and invite him to counseling. He doesn’t seem too pumped about counseling, but he does seem optimistic about their future together. They hit a slight speed-bump on the way to counseling when Mackenzie goes through Josh’s phone and accuses him of “hiding something.” They never made it to their counseling session, or worked out any of their issues. Actually, they seem to have more issues now than they did before they tried to drive to counseling.

Katie also swallowed her pride for her daughter Molli’s first birthday. She tried to make plans with Molli’s Dad Joey, but he cursed her out on the phone because his girlfriend Bridgette was in the room with him. A few hours later he caved and texted Katie and said he wanted to celebrate Molli’s birthday with her and Katie. The three took a trip to Salt Lake City, and managed to spend the entire day together drama-free. They were almost a picture perfect family, except for the fact that Joey has a girlfriend waiting for him at home.

After a roller coaster season, Katie, Briana and Alex seemed to finally make peace with their daughters’ fathers and their roles in their childrens’ lives (or in Alex’s case lack of role in their life). Josh on the other hand hung poor Mackenzie out to dry.

Although it still hasn’t been determined if and when there will be a second season of Teen Mom 3, the new era of Teen Moms have laid out plenty of groundwork for a ton of drama. Everyone wants to know whether Devoin kept up his good-boy role, or fell back into his bad habits. Rumor has it Mackenzie and Josh did make amends after filming the first season of Teen Mom 3, and she is actually now pregnant with his second baby. Katie and Joey definitely had some chemistry during their trip to Utah, and according to Matt’s Twitter account he still very much a part of Arabella’s life even though he stood them up at the park.

The Teen Mom 3 reunion show is set to air on Monday at 10:00 PM on November 18th . Tune in to see Katie, Alex, Mackenzie, and Briana, their babies, and the fathers of their babies, and what they have been up to since the cameras stopped rolling.
