Season 4 of the apocalyptic zombie drama, The Walking Dead, will be returning this October and hardcore fans can expect more gore, more sass, and maybe even some unexpected romance. If you find spoilers and sneak peeks unsettling, then perhaps you should turn away now, as we’re about to discuss the potential future between Michonne and Rick . . . . Will they fall in love?
A person from TV Line asked the following question: “I love the chemistry between Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira on The Walking Dead, but I do not want to see Rick and Michonne get romantically involved. That would be a jump-the-shark moment for sure. Please tell me the show isn’t going there.”
Michael Ausiello answers the question/worry with the following statement: “Series creator Robert Kirkman says he “wouldn’t necessarily rule a romance out,” but he reminds us that Rick’s “wife did just die in a horrible way, so I don’t think any kind of romance is really on his radar just yet.” Kirkman does, however, concede that the two are growing closer.
“They are definitely forming a friendship,” he acknowledges. “They have a very large mutual respect for each other because of their capabilities and their ability to trust one another, and I think that’s a lot of what was growing in the [Season 3] episode where they both went off on a run together.”
