The X Factor RECAP 9/11/13: Season 3 Premiere “Auditions #1”

The X Factor RECAP 9/11/13: Season 3 Premiere "Auditions #1"

Tonight on FOX my favorite show The X Factor USA returns for the first of a two-part premiere for season 3. This season at the judges desk it is the Men vs Women. At the judges panel this season are: Simon Cowell, Paulina Rubio, Kelly Rowland and Demi Lovato.  Simon is really outnumbered by the women on the panel this year, but Kelly, Demi and Paulina think that he’s secretly loving it!

Rumor has it at the judges table there is actually chemistry this season.  Demi had this to say about the chemistry, “If people liked what they saw last year with me and Simon, they’re going to have so much fun watching this year.  Because now it’s basically a whole panel against Simon!”

This season the hit competition series will be hosted by Mario Lopez, THE X FACTOR judges will travel the nation searching for talent 12 years old or over – both solo artists and vocal groups – who are willing to brave the panel for a chance to make their dreams of becoming a superstar come true. Auditions for THE X FACTOR were held this spring in Los Angeles, CA; Charleston, SC; New Orleans, LA; Long Island, NY; and Denver, CO.

On tonight’s show we see part 1 of the season 3 premiere and the first auditions, as usual we will see the good, the bad, the ugly and the really ugly auditions.

Tonight’s premiere is going to be an exciting one, which  I am not going to miss and neither should you. LIVE RECAP:

Welcome to the soul crushing auditions led by the one and only Simon Cowell. Yeah it’s that time of year again. A Brand new season of The X Factor. This time they’re welcoming new judges Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio. The newbies will be joining returning judge Demi Lovato.

On tonight’s episode, all contestants have been put into four categories: Girls, Boys, Over 25(s), and Groups. Simon does have success with Group. One Direction is literally what put him back on the map. So with that in mind the contestants have to show the judges what they got in order to get at least 3 yesses from the judges and eventually a chance to move on.

The first contestant of the night is Carlito. He wishes to one day be the Spanish Chris Brown. He’s a little pitchy but there is potential and so passes onto the next round. Befriending Paulina with all of his Spanish did turn out to help him. Next stop is South Carolina own in Charleston, South Carolina who will have that spark? That X factor?

First up is Sally. She is 55 and happily married and apparently “everyone” loves to hear her sing. Truth is she isn’t that good at all. Simon says a thousand dogs tried to come in. Sadly her screeching won’t be the last Simon hears tonight.

Some people have really never heard themselves sing before. They are truly that horrible.

At the long Island auditions the next notable performer is Lillie. She is 54 and doesn’t look a day over 30. She is mother and grandmother and can’t wait to pursue her dream of singing. What do you know . . . she sounds great and has exceptional control over her voice. She got a standing ovation from both the audience and judges.

It’s now time for New Orleans; home of Klaus and “The Originials”. Alex and Sierra, boyfriend and girlfriend, are singing as a group. They’ve been dating for two years and have decided to sing Britney Spears’s Toxic. They have great chemistry and sound really good together. Simon was skeptical of their song at first but he loved their rendition in the end. Onto the next round.

Rion, a sweet thirteen year old, was unfortunately born with a congenital defect that has affected her arms. However, that hasn’t stopped from always wanting to perform. She has a strong voice and the judges say yes for her talent and not out of any misplaced sympathy.

Now if only everyone else has half as much talent as Rion did. Stay tuned to find out tomorrow…
