Tonight’s episode of Chicago Fire begins with Casey paying his sister Kristy’s husband Jim a visit.  He is furious because Jim is leaving Kristy and hiding his assets and only offering her $2000 a month.  Casey says they’ll see him in court because he knows he has been hiding money in his girlfriend’s accounts. Jim reveals that Kristy cosigned all of the transfers, and hands him the documents with her signatures.

Casey heads back to the fire house and a call comes in of a juvenile in distress.  They head to the scene and find a young boy with his head stuck in a railing on a balcony, and the railing is falling.  His mother is holding on to the railing for dear life, if she lets go he will fall to his death.  Just as the railing slips from her hands Kelly scales the ladder and catches him.  The rest of the crew head in to the apartment and out on the balcony to secure the railing while they cut Archie’s head out of it.

Archie appears fine, and Sylvie inspects his neck.  Archie;s mother pleads with Kelly not to send him to the hospital, but Kelly explains it’s not his call.  Sylvie informs her that she has decided to send him to the hospital, just for a check-up.  When they arrive at the hospital, Sylvie learns that Archie’s file was flagged by CPS because his mother lost custody of him three years ago for abuse.  Sylvie watches in horror as social workers come in to the hospital and take Archie from his mother.

Newhouse tells Mills he has a job for him, but is mysterious about what exactly the job entails.  Newhouse drives him to an abandoned building and tells Mills to keep the engine running and just act like he is looking under the hood, meanwhile Newhouse runs inside of the building and leaves him outside confused.  While he is looking under the engine, a shot is fired through the car window and Newhouse comes running out of the house carrying a dog.  He jumps in the car and they drive off while a man fires more shots at them.  They meet up with a woman who is ecstatic that they recovered her dog from her ex-husband, and Newhouse tells her to make a check out to “Recovery Services Ltd.”

The next morning Herman arrives at the firehouse and finds Dawson hitting a tire with a sledge-hammer.  He offers her a few tips on how to hold the hammer during a forced entry.  Dawson heads inside and complains to Casey that Herman is driving her crazy.  Casey reminds her that they need to put some space between each other at work, and if she has a problem with Herman – she needs to take it up with Herman.

Archie’s mother shows up at the firehouse.  She explains to Sylvie that she was un an abusive relationship when she lost Archie before, but now she is a great mother.  She begs her to put in a good word for her so she can try to get Archie back again.  Kelly interrupts and tells her they can’t help her, the case is out of their hands now.  As she runs off Sylvie is obviously not happy with Kelly for dismissing her like that.

A call comes in for the paramedics, and Sylvie and Mills head to an apartment.  A man answers the door with a fork through his eye, but he seems oblivious to it.  He thanks them for coming and says that a “guy in the back looks really hurt.”  They head in to the apartment and Sylvie tells the tweaker with a fork in his eye to “sit down and stop moving.”  Sylvie says that the guy on the floor isn’t breathing and his pulse is slow.  She opens his mouth and sees a stick in his throat, she pulls it out and realizes that his meth-head band mate shoved an entire corn dog down his throat.  Once she pulls the corn dog out, the man on the floor begins coughing and gasping for air.

Sylvie returns to the fire house, and corners Kelly.  He explains that Shay got overly invested in a guy she helped once, and people aren’t always who they seem.  Sylvie argues that it isn’t right not to help Archie’s mom, so they pay her a visit and ask her to see her chip to make sure she is still sober and snoop around her apartment and refrigerator.  They are satisfied that she is a good mom, and Sylvie informs her that she and Kelly are going to “go to bat for her.”

Casey’s sister Kristy shows up at the fire station and asks if she can leave her daughter with him while she goes to a test for her new job.  She reveals that she isn’t going to go to court, and is going to take the settlement that Jim offered her.  Casey heads inside and finds Violet crying, she misses her house and her old school and she doesn’t understand why her dad is doing this to them.  Casey corners Newhouse and says that he needs to find more information on Jim and his mistress, he is sure he is hiding something he can use to help his sister.

Kelly and Sylvie head to social services to discuss Archie and his mother Katherine.  The social worker blows them off and says that as soon as he gets to their case he will give them a call.  Kelly leaves his number and tells him they’ll be waiting for his call.

Newhouse hands over a check to Mills, and he is shocked to see how much money he made stealing a woman’s dog back for her.  Mouch and Otis want to know when they can get in on the business.  Newhouse receives a fax from the police department and hands it over to Casey and says he found something for him.

Casey heads to Jim’s office and reveals that there is a bench warrant in Alabama for his mistress, and all he has to do is tip off the police, and she will be shipped back to Alabama.  And, she’ll take all of his money with her since he transferred everything in to her name.

At the fire house they receives a call telling them to assist the police, they arrive at the scene and learn that police are trying to execute a warrant, but the drug dealer has barricaded himself inside.  After using the fire truck to rip the bars off the door, Herman and Dawson get to work on the second door with a sledge hammer just like she practiced.  While they are working, someone fires shots through the door.  They finally get inside and the police apprehend the drug dealer, they also find a hostage that was shot in the chest.  Sylvie and Mills work on the gun shot victim and rush her to the hospital.  Sylvie is devastated when they nurses inform her that the girl didn’t make it.

Sylvie leaves the hospital, and heads straight to DSS.  She slames her fist on the social worker’s desk and tells him that she isn’t going to leave until he looks at Archie’s file.  She sits down in a chair and refuses to leave, the case worker caves and takes out Archie’s file.

Katherine’s mom shows up at the fire station ad thanks Sylvie and Kelly for everything that they did.  Kelly is in such a great mood, he invites Sylvie to go to Vegas with him.  She says she would love to, but she doesn’t think it is a good idea.  In the locker room Herman gushes about how great that Dawson did on the call, and says that she proved herself.

After work Dawson and Casey head to his sister Kristy’s house, Kristy gushes that Jim came by and he is giving them back the house, doubling the monthly payments, and even offered to pay for Violet’s school.  Casey heads upstairs to tuck Violet in to bed.

THE END!
