RECAP: The delinquents prepare to fight off the Grounders. There is a scream from Raven as they cauterize her wounds. Raven says they’re lucky that Murphy didn’t shoot the rocket fuel tanks. Clarke is very interested in using this as a weapon but they are out of gunpowder. Clarke says they have to carry Raven because the bullet is still inside her and could case internal bleeding.

Finn and Bellamy argue and Finn says Bellamy can stay behind if he wants. Bellamy thinks they are running when they should stand and fight. She asks him to be with him and lead them. He says they are lined up to go and are listening to her now but she says he can inspire them to fight and die and she thinks they will need that sentiment again before the day is done.

The kids prepare to leave. Bellamy looks unhappy. She tells him he’s done well there and he says 18 are dead and she reminds him that 82 are alive out of the 100. He throws water on the fire and they turn to walk away. Smoke rises into the sky. (Is that a good thing?) The kids march resolutely into the woods toward the coast and safe haven promised by Lincoln. Raven is carried on a stretcher.

Clarke and Bellamy lead the way. Some of the kids talk about surfing when they get to the ocean. Octavia waves for a stop in the march and quiet. One kid is felled by a blade to the head and Jasper yells – Grounders. Panic ensues. The kids start to run amok. They aren’t far from their safe area and run back in and shut the gates behind. So far, they’ve lost only one.

Clarke wonders why they attacked and she says they are doing what the Grounders want them to do. She says it’s just scouts and they can fight past them. Finn agrees with Clarke. The group is divided on what to do. Bellamy says stand and fight or run and get picked off out in the open. He tells Clarke to decide. She steps down and tells Finn that Lincoln told them there was more than one scout. She telsl Bellamy he has the fight he wanted.

Bellamy issues orders and sends the kids off to prepare their defenses. Octavia goes to join the gunners and Bellamy stops her but she reminds him that he was the one who said they are all Grounders now. Clarke asks how they do it. They have 500 rounds of ammo and have laid out land mines. They have some grenades built as well.

They hope the guns and grenades will force them back. If all else fails, they can fall back to the ship which Clarke says they can get into. Bellamy says the plan is to kill enough of them to get them to turn back. Clarke wants to talk about the rocket fuel but Raven says they can’t build a bomb without gunpowder. They discuss barbecuing the grounders by blowing up the ship once they get close. Raven says she needs time but can cook them real good.

Back up on the Ark, they are figuring out how to bring the Ark to the ground that will sever them from the ring and then use the thrusters to take them out of orbit. Re-entry will be violent and hot and the stations will break apart and they can’t predict which ones will explode. Kane tells them some of them will be on those stations. Thrusters will act as reverse thrusters to slow their descent and they say that if they hit at greater than 70 mph, they won’t survive. Jaha says if they don’t try it, they will all die. Abby wants to know how close they will land to the kids and Jaha says as close as they can.

Raven, Clarke and Finn work together. They are looking fro the ignition system. Raven tells them she can’t feel her legs. Clarke comes running to check on her. She’s in a lot of pain and doubles over screaming. Clarke sees a bruise on her back that indicates internal bleeding. Raven sits back up and Clarke tells her that the bullet is in her spine. She tells her she’s bleeding internally.

Raven says she needs to get this done fast and tells them to get back to work. Finn asks what if they can slow the bleeding and says he can get more coagulant from Lincoln’s stuff. He wants to go back to the cave to get it but Raven says she won’t let him die to save her but he reminds her that if she dies, they all die because she’s the only one with the know-how to do this.

Clarke asks Finn to wait and says she can’t lose him again. He says she won’t. He heads off and Clarke looks very worried.

On the Ark, they make their last preparations for their attempt. Jaha says, in peace may you leave this shore and in love may you find the next. He wishes them all safe passage and that they all may meet again. They repeat this last then Jaha tells Sinclair to take them home. They are all belted in as best as they can be. Sinclair counts down then separates them from the ring. It’s silent.

They all wait cringing, but the remote detonations failed and Sinclair says that someone will have to launch them manually. Kane unstraps and says he will do it but Abby tries to stop him. Sinclair says if they don’t do it now, they’ll miss the window to land by the kids and they can’t wait for another rotation – they will run out of air.

Kane tells Abby that salvation comes at a price and goes to take care of it. He shakes hands as he goes by. Abby asks how much air he will have and Sinclair says one or two weeks at most. But then the detonations go and Sinclair says they’ve launched. It was Jaha – he did it and wishes them Godspeed. Abby asks where he is and he tells her to hold on tight so she can see her daughter soon. He watches the rest of the Ark float away and says that he’ll soon see his son.

Back on the ground, it’s dark and the kids are still prepping. They hear drums. They all prepare to do battle. Bellamy asks where Octavia is and they tell him that she left five minutes ago. They hear on the radio that the Grounders are moving in. They hear gunfire. Bellamy calls for a sit rep and says they didn’t attack and it was like shooting a ghost.

Bellamy shouts at them to stop firing. He tells them to reload. They want to fall back from the foxholes but Bellamy says they can’t. Raven tells the others where to find parts she needs and tells them it isn’t rocket science but Clarke says that it actually is. Raven tells her that she was always picked first for everything every time. She asks Clarke how the hell she ended up here.

Clarke tells her that she would pick her first. Raven says of course you would – I’m awesome. They listen to the firefight on the radio. They found the right wire but it’s fried and Clarke says it’s useless. Clarke is worried and Raven asks if she knows how to splice a wire. She doesn’t and Raven struggles in pain. They hear shouts on the radio as the fighting intensifies.

They shout out to Raven that the mines worked. Clarke calls for Jasper to come because he knows how to splice wires. Jasper says they are not attacking and are making them waste bullets – he tells them not to shoot when they’re firing laterally. Murphy is with the Grounders and they punish him for not warning them about the landmines. Anya asks what’s next and Tristan says they need to attack.

Bellamy watches and waits. The people in advance foxholes fall back as the Grounders attack full on. Bellamy struggles with one but Octavia stabs the guy. Octavia takes an arrow then Bellamy picks her up to get her behind the wall.

Finn runs into the caves looking for Lincoln’s stuff. Lincoln is there and he tells him the scouts were already there. He tells him that he needs medicine for Raven. Lincoln says he has it. He throws it to him. Lincoln says he’s going with him and they head out but Finn looks at a picture of the Reapers and has an idea. He says it’s a really bad idea.

Clarke talks to Raven to keep her conscious and aware. She’s getting slurry. Jasper is working on splicing the wire when Raven goes silent. He shouts up to her and they go see what’s going on. She’s slumped over and Clarke says she’s not dead yet, but will be soon. They hear on the radio that they’ve broken through the gates and there are hundreds of them. She tells Jasper to finish it. Clarke comes out and tells them they need more time. She tells the gunners to stay put and brings others inside.

There is a light in the sky and the fighting stops. Someone asks if its from the Ark and Clarke says it is the Ark. Even the Grounders are transfixed as they watch the object hurtle through the sky. Abby says a silent prayer to her daughter that she’s coming.

Finn and Lincoln run with Reapers hot on their heels. They see the Grounders and war breaks out between those two factions. Clarke sees Finn and runs to him. She hugs him and asks what he did. He says he kicked the hornet’s nest and brought the Reapers to buy time. She says Jasper is working on it. They go to take care of Raven.

Octavia tells Bellamy to leave her but then Lincoln is there. Bellamy asks if he provided the distraction and he says he did it with Finn. He tells Octavia the wound is deep and needs treated now. Lincoln says he can save her but needs to take her with him. Bellamy agrees but she wants to stay and fight. Bellamy  tells her to go with him and live and tells her – I got this. She hugs her brother and tells him she loves him. He tells her – may we meet again and she repeats it. Lincoln scoops her up and takes her away as Bellamy tells him to keep her safe.

The Grounders defeat the Reapers finally and then head for the wall. They are breaching it as Clarke and the others work furiously. Jasper says he thinks he has it. They get ready to close the door but Clarke says to wait on Bellamy and the others. They throw the last of the grenades and Clarke calls everyone to come inside.

They spot Bellamy and tell him to come on but he has to get past Tristan first. Finn grabs a gun and goes to defend Bellamy. Finn looks at her as Tristan attacks. Clarke has to go because the Grounders are swarming. She tells Jasper to do it now. Anya looks around for the kids then dives in just as the doors close. She finds her self surrounded by the kids. Clarke tells Jasper to do it now. He flips the switch and nothing. Anya looks at them.

Jasper toggles the switch over and over. Clarke tells Anya she can’t win. She lunges and is taken down and Clarke tries to stop them from killing her. Jasper figures out how to apply current to the firing mechanism. Clarke stops them and tells them they are not Grounders. Jasper blows it and the rocket fuel pours out in a hail of fire taking out what looks like all of the Grounders in a spectacular show of flames and destruction.

Jaha tries to contact the Ark. Abby says they are on the ground. He’s relieved. They ask if he’s heard from any of the other stations yet and he says no. Abby heads outside. She opens a top shaft and looks around at the snow-capped mountains in the distance and the clean clear waters of the lake. Jaha asks what it’s like and she says – everything I dreamed, so much green, trees everywhere and water. She says the air smells sweet.

She says it’s so beautiful. She tells Jaha he should be there. Kane joins her up top. He looks out into the distance then tells Abby to look – they see smoke in the distance. She tells Jaha it may be another station and he tells her to go find their people. Jaha goes to the window and looks down at the Earth far below. He sits and holds his vintage bottle of booze then pours himself a cup. He holds it up in a toast and says – may we meet again. There’s nothing left of the Ark but the ring.

The door comes down and the kids come out of the ship. There are smoking bodies, charred to skeletal remains everywhere. They have Anya tied up and drag her out with them. Clarke looks around and sees what she thinks is Finn’s body. Then there are red smoke grenades thrown down at them and Anya says – mountain men. The kids are knocked down by the smoke. Men in fatigues wearing gas masks and armed with laser sighted guns descend on them. Clarke looks up at one before she passes out.

She wakes on crisp white sheets under fluorescent lights. She sits up and puts her bare feet on the cool tile floor and cringes from the temperature She pulls out her IV and looks around. She’s in white, the room is white but there is a Van Gogh painting of Starry Night on the wall. She is observed on a video screen. She sees Monty in a room across the hall. She sees a sign that says they are in quarantine. She’s stunned.
