The Fox hit drama series Empire is getting ready for it’s second season and the producers and casting directors are not holding back one bit. E! News and Deadline have just confirmed that Oscar winner Marisa Tomei has been added to the second season of Empire and has secured a major role.

Marisa Tomei will play the character of Mimi Whiteman and will absolutely bring the drama to the Lyon family. Mimi Whiteman is a tough venture capitalist who will see herself in the middle of some Lyon family drama. E! In addition to Marisa Tomei, you can expect to see other major stars joining the second season of Empire such as Adam Rodrigues of Magic Mike XXL, Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz, and Alicia Keys. Adam Rodriguez will play a new love interest for Cookie Lyon while her on and off husband, Lucious Lyon, played by Terrance Howard, is behind bars. The other three big name actors and musicians will be making guest appearances on the show, and we can guarantee that there will be much more star power as the second season of Empire picks up.

Thanks to the success of the first season, the second season of Empire will increase from 12 to 18 episodes, and will take a a mid season break in between the fall and the winter.
