Tonight on NBC world renowned chef Gordon Ramsay’s television series Hell’s Kitchen where aspiring chefs compete returns with an all new Tuesday April 21, season 14 episode 8 called, “11 Chefs Compete,” and we have your weekly recap below. On tonight’s episode, the teams get creative when they pair spirits with food for special guest John Ratzenberger; and later, the 11 remaining contestants compete to avoid elimination during a gastropub dinner service.

On the last episode, the teams squared off for Chef Ramsay’s first-ever Greek cuisine challenge. After an exciting race to smash plates to gather their ingredients, it was up to each contestant to create a delicious Greek-inspired dish. Each dish was then judged by Chef Ramsay and special guest Chef Michael Psilakis. The team that received the highest cumulative score wins a high performance get-a-way at a go-kart racing track, while the losing team was stuck at Hell’s Kitchen preparing for the evening’s service. Then, after Chef Ramsay kicked out an entire team in the middle of a tough dinner service, the remaining team must covered twice the orders. Did you watch the last episode? With only 11 chefs left, it’s now up to everyone to make sure Chef Ramsay remembers them. And only in the very best light.

Take Christine for example. She must have impressed the chef if she made this far into the competition but, ultimately, despite her success at staying that doesn’t change the fact she’s now been up for elimination three times. So she has to know she’s walking a fine line from here on out. And just like the rest of the Red team, this week has to be about redemption.

Overall, the girls gave a poor showing on last week’s episode and so tonight they have to prove that their many little mishaps were a mere fluke. And at the first chance they got, the girls headed into their challenge with their heads held high. Solely focusing on what they had to do. Which, sadly for them, meant they didn’t get a chance to chat up a celebrity.

Tonight’s guest host was the lovable actor John Ratzenberger. See, John was on the long running hit show “Cheers” and one of the reasons Ramsay brought in him for his expertise was because he needed someone that knew their alcohol.

The challenge required the Red and Blue teams to individually cook a dish with at least one form of alcohol. They could either choose beer, wine, liquor. But like always their dishes had to be both appetizing and inventive.

So that’s where John came in. John and maître d’ Marino helped each contestants pick out the best complimentary alcohol. Though, tonight, there was surprise awaiting everyone that no one could have predicted even on their best day. Because later during the judging, Megan messed up.

Apparently when it came down to final two dishes going head to head against each other, Meghan who typically is the favorite in the current batch of hopefuls; failed to impress like she normally does. And was told her dish was dry. So Josh, who had his own run-in with bad luck, won the Blue team their latest challenge and stole that win from under Megan’s nose.

Now, luckily, the girls didn’t seem to be dishearten by this loss as they would have say last week but they still wanted to save the night by delivering an impeccable dinner service. Hence, once the guys returned from their prize vacation, the girls tried to not let the other team’s boasting get to them. And were just going to pay attention to what they were doing.

But, as if it fell out of the sky, they received a gift. For the Blue team was suddenly down one cook. And seeing as a slip disk was too risky to continue the competition with – tonight proved to the end for Brett and truthfully he carried his team.

Brett probably had the most heart out of the lot and he was also the one that led his team to his victory last week. Yet now that he was gone, his team didn’t appear to be at their best. If anything their dinner service had never been so bad as when they had to run their own kitchen without Brett in the back shouting his support.

Thus it was sort of like one mistake after another with them. And unfortunately Ramsay is not known for his long fuse.

Meanwhile the Red team ended up doing something that our hot-tempered Chef didn’t like. And, funnily enough, that was excluding one of their own in the kitchen. Something in which they were accused of doing last week but Ramsay hadn’t chosen to believe Sara when she said it.

On tonight’s episode, however, Ramsay stepped in when Alice tried to pass off her mistake as Michelle’s. And he called her on what she did as well.

Yet, did that help Michelle in gaining any respect? No it did not. And so her fellow chefs went back to ignoring her and thankfully they were still able to finish their dinner service even though they showed a great amount of immaturity. Plus, as it turns out, Ramsay had to ask them to finish up the Blue team’s service as well.

The Blue team were dismissed from their kitchen when Randy and Adam failed on both meat and fish. And though it should have been only those two, you what that epically failed, up for elimination – Ramsay later nominated Josh. But that could have been his way to teach Josh a lesson. Now maybe he’ll realize he needs to stop proclaiming himself to be a leader when he doesn’t know how to lead.

And as for the sorry young hopeful that had to go home tonight, we say goodbye to Adam. Adam started strong in the competition but once he began failing at his station – he didn’t reach out for help and instead of taking responsibility – he attempted to lay blame on Josh for being too frazzled in the kitchen.

THE END!
