Lamar Odom probably won’t be facing felony drug charges for cocaine possession that led up to his near fatal overdose because of the former NBA star’s current health and his mental state. The Nye County district attorney received heavy criticism when it was announced previously that there may be criminal charges against Odom.
Nye County prosecutors started backtracking when it was revealed that Lamar Odom might be getting some special treatment but not the kind that the former Los Angeles Lakers forward might appreciate.
The law enforcement agency was accused of being heavy handed with Odom because of his celebrity status after it was revealed that Nye County had never gone after a drug overdose victim and charged them with possession of the illicit substance that almost killed them.
So really, there’s a pretty good chance that the charges are no longer being considered for Odom because accusations that Lamar was singled out would make the district attorney’s office look bad and also because the charges likely wouldn’t stick anyway.
Lamar Odom’s mental state and cognitive function are really questionable. Many don’t seem to understand just how much damage Lamar did to his brain during the drug overdose induced strokes. It really is a miracle that Odom is alive at all.
In an interview with Ellen on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Khloe Kardashian tried to explain just how much her estranged husband has to recover from. The “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star told Ellen that Lamar doesn’t even know how his injury occurred. She also said that Odom thinks he is 26-years old and that he sometimes doesn’t recognize significant people in his life.
It sounds like even if the Nye County district attorney had a history of prosecuting drug overdoses with possession of illegal drugs, Lamar Odom still wouldn’t be fit for trial because his cognitive abilities are so damaged that Lamar couldn’t even understand what was going on let alone be able to carry out any associated jail sentence.
It seems that the local law enforcement’s attempt to look tough on drug use really backfired because there is no way Odom is going to be charged with cocaine drug possession for his reckless Nevada brothel overdose.
