Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that we’ll have to say goodbye to one Salemite. Serial Scoop is reporting that a veteran performer has left the NBC soap. He or she joined the cast within the last two years, so that narrows down our options. We do have a few possibilities to ponder though.
First, let’s talk about the characters who are most likely safe. Gabi (Camila Banus) is involved in a hot triangle and Days appears to have big plans for her. She’s probably not going anywhere. Steve (Stephen Nichols) is almost certainly sticking around, too. He’ll be busy once his long-lost son comes to town in early 2017.
Andre (Thaao Penghlis) is another character that Days might want to keep around. Now that Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) is gone, we need Andre to carry on the DiMera dynasty. Unfortunately, Kassie DePaiva’s leukemia diagnosis seemingly takes Eve out of the running. DePaiva is still technically listed as a contract player, but the fact that Eve is headed off canvas wouldn’t be news.
Eduardo (A Martinez) is up for debate. A Martinez voluntarily dropped to recurring a while back to pursue other projects. It’s possible that Martinez has now left Days of Our Lives entirely, but he’d be giving up a sweet arrangement. There’s no contract to keep Martinez tied down, so he can still do plenty of other gigs.
If all of those characters are staying in Salem, that leaves us with four other choices. Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) could be a leading lady at Days moving forward, but her portrayer did just have a baby. Nadia Bjorlin may have decided to spend more time at home with her family.
Sonny (Freddie Smith) could be a bit iffy. When Freddie Smith returned for his latest stint, he indicated that it would be lengthy. However, it’s tough to say if that meant he was back for good. There’s been some buzz about Will’s potential return from the dead, so there’s a chance that Sonny and Will could leave Salem together. They could go out of the country to rebuild their relationship or something along those lines. It would be a nice sendoff if Freddie Smith has chosen to leave.
Next, we have Deimos (Vincent Irizarry). This is a tricky one. Ken Corday, the executive producer of Days of Our Lives, really likes Vincent Irizarry. DOOL has definitely had Deimos front and center lately. Nevertheless, some viewers find the character to be a real pain. Irizarry could’ve been forced out.
Dario (Jordi Vilasuso) is the last contender. He pretty much serves no purpose, but DOOL’s writers seem to think he adds something to the show. All of the aforementioned cast members came to Days within the last two years. Some of them were joining for the first time and others were joining for a return stint. Either way, they fit the requirement.
It’s worth mentioning that “veteran performer” could refer to their work on other soaps as well. Don’t let that term throw you off. We’ll give you updates as other details emerge.
