General Hospital’s (GH) spoilers reveal that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) is going to hear a melody that triggers some memories – memories that don’t make a lot of sense to her, but they all have a connection to Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). Anna senses she knows Valentin from the past yet she clearly doesn’t recognize him, why? General Hospital spoilers suggest it is because Valentin had plastic surgery to change his appearance!
From the first time Anna met Valentin, she said there was something familiar about him, but she can’t quite place her finger on it. As an WSB agent she is using every resource to uncover information on Valentin and his past, and so far she hasn’t come up with too much. She did discover that the boarding school he attended had burned down to the ground after he left, and Anna is convinced Valentin did it to hide something but what if she is wrong?
GH fans have heard over and over again about how evil Valentin is, but remember that is all coming from Helena Cassadine’s (Constance Towers) mouth. No one had laid eyes on the elusive Valentin making it super easy to hold all those people hostage on Cassadine Island in Greece. What if everyone has the stories twisted and Valentin is just as much a victim of Helena’s as others have been?
Let’s go back to how badly Helena treated Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) for being the bastard child of her husband, Mikkos. She has no qualms about squashing anyone who was to get in her way and when she discovered the boarding school he was in, she burned it down with the intention of killing Valentin inside. One has to wonder, who really emerged from the fire?
Valentin was likely a burn victim of that fire and had extensive plastic surgery which altered his appearance. Even if Valentin wasn’t badly burns, he still had to spend most of his youth looking over his shoulder in fear of Helena – so it’s only logical for him to have had plastic surgery to hide from the insane wife his dad cheated on.
We know that Valentin has a past with Anna because he has a picture of a very young Anna tucked away in his hotel suite, but she doesn’t remember him, even though she says his eyes are very familiar. It would make perfect sense that she would recognize his eyes, since they had obviously met before he changed his face with plastic surgery and a person’s look, their eyes, never change!
