General Hospital Spoilers: Is Franco's Caging and Torture of Tom The Rapist Too Extreme or Justified?

General Hospital (GH) fans are going crazy over Franco Baldwin’s (Roger Howarth) actions. We all knew that Franco did not like the fact that Tom Baker (Don Harvey) was released from prison after everything he had done to Emily Quartermaine (Amber Tamblyn) and for raping Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) as a teenager; but none of us really knew how far he would take his rage.

Franco has done many dastardly deeds through the years, including recording a video of him supposedly raping an unconscious Samantha McCall Morgan (Kelly Monaco) and kidnapping Liz’ newborn son, Aiden and giving him to his mother. Before he had his brain tumor removed, he was considered a psychotic serial killer, known only to the world as Franco!

After the tumor removed, most people just accepted that it was the tumor and moved on; a select few still believed he was a dark, evil and morbid person. He lost his taste for art, and magically became the perfect fit at General Hospital as an art therapist, like he had never committed a crime or was the safest person to trust your children with.

Many fans feel that Franco’s actions towards Tom; like placing the rapist in a steel dog cage with a shock collar on, and spraying him with a water/vinegar mix is the worst thing he has ever done. Franco wasn’t cured when the tumor was removed, it seems more like his psychotic tendencies just remained dormant for a while. Does anyone else find it weird that the only time he does really insane stuff is when he is in love or hurt by someone he trusted?

His tumor was removed when he helped a desperate Nina Reeves (Michelle Stafford), who had induce Ava Jerome (Maura West) into early labor, so Nina could kidnap the baby. He exposed Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) for murdering AJ Quartermaine (Sean Kanan) on the night of his non-wedding to Carly, just to destroy Michael (Chad Duell) and Sonny’s relationship; then he convinced Jordan (Vinessa Antoine), Heather (Robin Mattson), Shawn (Sean Blakemore) and Carly (Laura Wright) they were locked in a warehouse where the doors were rigged with explosives.
