Glenn Frey, Eagles guitarist, has died at 67 after losing the fight against serious health conditions. TMZ is reporting that Glenn Frey died in New York City after his health took a turn for the worse. Glenn had been fighting rheumatoid arthritis, pneumonia, and acute ulcerative colitis. All very painful, serious conditions.
Glenn Frey not only played guitar with the legendary Eagles, he also played piano/keyboards and even sang on many Eagles hits like Already Gone, Lyin’ Eyes, New Kid in Town, Heartache Tonight, Take It Easy, Peaceful Easy Feeling, and of course the one and only, Tequila Sunrise.
Glenn Frey even had a solo career after the Eagles split in 1980. During his time with the Eagles, Glenn was honored with six Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, and of course was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, which was the year that they were originally nominated for the prestigious honor.
Glenn Frey even had a streak as an actor starring in shows like, Miami Vice, Nash Bridges, and even Arli$$. For movie roles you might remember him from Jerry Maguire where he played the part of the Arizona Cardinals owner.
The Eagles shared their condolences on their website saying, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016.
Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia.
The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery.
